Dodge Ram 3500 tow capacity

I am having trouble finding something definitive on what the two rating is on my

Dodge Ram, 2007 3500 HD, 2 wd, with 3.73 axle, 6.7 turbo

even checking Dodge sites I have found everything from a little over 13K to another site that lists 18K.

can anyone steer me to an authoritive location...

Do you have a sticker or tag on the door frame? All 3500's are not equal. Transmission, other options, towing package, dual rear wheels all make a difference. The owners manual may help also.

My new to me 2011 is rated at 13,250# for the 3.73:1 axle. The 4.10:1 axle gets you the higher rating in the 2011.

The code on the sticker on the driver's door jamb should tell you. Look it up under towing in the owners manual.

I'd trust the sticker on the door before the owners manual. I had to replace the stop light bulb on our Saturn. Owners manual part number said 2057 (round metal base). Actual part number was 3157 (flat plastic w/2 thin wires).

Another way to check is with the VIN online.

Would you happen to have the link that details the towing capacity based on the VIN#? Thanks.

Sorry, I don't think I do, but I'm not on my home computer to check. I think I just googled it and found a site that tells you. When I get home, I'll look and see if I saved the site.

rbrumfield,
I found the site... http://www.decodethis.com
It's a vin decoder and tells you all kinds of info...payload, towing capacity, etc. for YOUR truck.
