Does anybody use a platform bike rack on their flat-tow?

I want to use a platform bike rack on my flat-tow but many manufactures don't recommend it. I'm being told there is too much movement at the rear bumper.

I understand that a travel trailer or 5th wheel have more movement at the rear bumper due to the rocking motion between the tow vehicle and trailer. But a flat towed vehicle has all four tires on the ground just as it does while being driven. Any rocking motion between the tow vehicle and the towed vehicle is absorbed at the pivot points on the towing hitch.

Am I looking at this wrong?

That doesn't sound right to me...

What's the difference from the perspective of a bike rack whether the vehicle it's attached to is driving down the road versus being flat-towed?

I know! There are a few platform racks that are approved but they are for a 2" hitch. I have a Honda Fit with a 1.25" hitch.

Agreed I’d do it and wouldn’t think twice about it
