Drove A New 5.0 F150 For 3 Fantastic Days

Have been driving a new 2011 F150 Lariat with the 5.0 motor doing some marketing work with Ford Motor Company. 360hp/380tq. I had driven a 5.4 last year for the same reason and I can tell you the 5.0 feels much stronger than the 5.4. Smooth, responsive throughout the whole rpm range. Also had the selectshift transmission. Really cool. F150 SCrew is def. on my short list of new tow vehicles. Cant imagine what the 6.2 or 3.5 Ecoboost must feel like in a similar platform.

New engine. It's intended to replace the 4.6. Oddly enough, the 3.5 is intended to replace the 5.4. The 6.2 is a new option for the F150s (Lariat and up).

When buying for a tow vehicle the bigger the engine the better. You can never have to much power or torque.

Normally, I would agree but the 3.5 is showing some promise for a vehicle that occasionally has a near max load and loafs the rest of the time. If the vehicle spends most of the time working near the limits, I still feel there is no substitute for cubes. In theory, the 3.5 would be ideal for me but that little six is being stressed to unbelievable levels. Even though stress tests have been done on it that say it can handle the stress, I'm still waiting to see how it holds up in the real world. I'm also concerned with how much it will cost to get it fixed when it does break. Ford is a wee bit stingy with its warranties.

If I had to buy a new F150 right now, I would get the 6.2.
