E-brake Break-Away Connection

So this should to be better than hooking it to the hitch right?

It's not on the main frame rails, but i put the cable on the rear cross-member that's welded to the frame rails.

I can reach under and pull the cable hoop down and then clip our break-away cable to it.

Think this is sufficient?

That is more than sufficient.

Interested to know why you are not using the receiver as your attachment point. Not questioning your choice, I'd just like to understand the background.

I have been, just been reading a lot online lately and apparently it's better to connect to something other than the receiver hitch so when my Class 4 factory hitch decides to fall off my brand new 2500HD I won't end up killing a bus load of nuns with my run-away trailer....or something like that. And I have a lot of spare cable and a nice set of crimpers laying around

Great idea. I really struggled with that on my '16 2500hd when I had a TT. Probably the same stupid hitch design that makes it difficult to hook both chains and break-away cable to the hitch.

You know, you just gave me something to think about. As many years as I've pulled trailers, I never once considered a hitch failure of that magnitude.

My Sprinter is similar. The holes in the hitch are small to begin with and then MB has the wiring box mounted very close to the the drivers side eyelet. There is very little room because of it.

This idea give me an option.

Well, since I have plenty of cable and I'm never satisfied with my work I decided to make another cable connection.

This one is much easier because I built it off the truck and then simply looped it through itself. I like this version a lot better because I can tuck the tag end in the receiver and not have to feel around under the bumper trying to find it like the first one I built.

Like this idea too because with my F250 I can no longer use my 1/4 quick link as the holes are too big for it. I have to do something else
