Eaz Lift Sway Bars Sheared off during trip

Just finished up a 1200 mile trip from Indiana to Hershey PA. On the last leg of the trip with 300 miles left, I stopped at a state park in Ohio for the night. In the morning re-hooked everything up like normal and everything seemed fine. Was a bit breezy at about 15mph and I go about 60 unless it's totally flat I might make it to 65. Have a WDH and 1 sway bar installed by dealer (Campingworld...which is another story and won't ever be a customer of theirs again), and decided to add the second sway bar myself. Got about a mile from home when I noticed something dragging and found both sway bars completely sheared off of the trailer. One side took a chunk out of the plate, the other was broken off at the bolt. Nothing else I can see is broken and I don't recall anything on the last leg that I can recall would make me think something happened. There was some construction and some uneven roads but nothing major that jumps out at me as something would be wrong. I'm pulling a 30' Jayco, about 4800 loaded with a dual cab Tacoma with tow package. I'll I can think is WTF!!

did you make any sharp turns that could have caused them to bind

I cant see that happening unless they were installed with too little distance for the inner turn side ... outer side I would think would just slip out if it went too far

No nothing out of the ordinary. I even take them off to back up and didn't do any of that. I assume this would have made a hell of a noise, but didn't hear anything (was only listening to a podcast so it wasn't up loud)

well to me it looks like a serious amount of pressure was put on them to cause it to pull and break the welds and the ball on the receiver end ... just seems awkward as the sway control is like brake material and should move with friction ... almost like they stuck and didn't move in our out and just ripped the balls off

could they have been just too tight?

I ran that cheap stuff on my 1st TT. Came home and realized that the ball had broke and the friction plate wasn't doing anything from the time it broke till I got home. Never noticed any difference in towing. So I left it off.
Next TT I got the real deal. An EQ with built in 4pt sway control.

That's too bad. It looks like the weld let loose. Definetly a quality issue.

I bought my sway control bar at harbor freight ... its a haul master and i havent had 1 problem with it . When i start out if i feel i am getting a little too much sway i just tighten it a little more. It is basically brake friction material and you have to adjust it accordingly
.. too tight and it causes issues ... too loose and it doesnt work as intended. But it does help control sway on my 338
