Glad to know I "shouldn't" have that problem in the 2013 Ecoboost F150 I just bought. Took them long enough to find a fix though...

Good to hear they found a fix. I never experienced the power-loss issue when I had the Ecoboost, but it was always in the back of my mind.

I think the Eco Boost is a good idea, but no way would I buy one until the guinea pigs find all the problems.
Isn't that just like Microslut when they release the new version of Windows?

40,000 miles on my 2011 EB and no intercooler issues. All the bad cases get the press.

Humidity/rain are the 2 items that trigger the problem. If you live in the warmer climates, there is a good chance that you will encounter the problem. Even if you live up north, I would still get the fix.

A quick side note since I frequent a couple F150 forums a lot. The issue has been reported in the 2013's as well- I believe up to a certain build date.

I am up North- dry old prairies. Know of two that have done this (pre 2013) here. So being in a drier climate isn't a silver bullet.

I have the 2011 Ecoboost and live in south Texas. I have not experienced any issues yet regarding the intercooler. We have a lot of heat and humidity here. I drove the truck towing my trailer from San Antonio to northern NH and back this past summer thru heat and rain with no issues. I just hope I got a good Ecoboost or luck stays on my side.

For those that are interested in this thread primarily because they are interested in buying a new truck, do not discount the Coyote 5.0L that is in the non-boosted trucks. Had Ford not introduced the Ecoboost, everybody would be raving about this motor as it easily trumps the outgoing 5.4 Triton. It is a sweet sounding powerful motor, and it is not loud at all in the cabin when you spin it up (EB engines get their torq much lower in the RPM band than the Coyote 5.0 does).

I owned one, it's the way I would go if I went back to the 1/2 ton.

We have a 2013 Ecobust F-150. It conked out on me the other day. I drove from -30 to about 0 in the morning. In the afternoon, after a stop and another short drive, I was heading out and the engine seemed to die. Would still run, but idle only. After filling with gas and putting gasline anitfreeze in, it still wasn`t willing to run. I shut it off, started it, and away it went! In extremely cold weather, the `check engine`light comes on, but will go out when it warms up.

Doesn`t much matter now, as I clobbered a big whitetail deer and it will be out of the running now for sometime for repairs.
