Also, pay attention to the sub-note in this web page about reduced sway control.
I have a pair of the Sway Bracket Jackets and they do help tremendously to keep the noise down - not completely, but they do quiet the hitch quite a bit.

I was lucky enough to be picked as a field tester when I bought my hitch directly from the company, about 8 years ago (1/2 the price of buying it through the local dealer). They sent me a pair, then an improved pair. The first pair lasted only a couple seasons, but the improved pair have been in use for 6 years and still work fine. I highly recommend them - and the Equalizer hitch itself.

I turn my head upside down and slide it in the receiver to support it. From this angle I can clean and lubricate the wear surfaces on the head. I use a heavy screw drive to rotate the bar pivots so i can clean and grease the loaded side. With it upside down you are looking right at the surface. Then I flip it and install the pin and I am ready to go.

That is a great idea. Thanks for that tip.

Had to laugh! I know you're talking about the hitch head, but still . . .

We just returned from our maiden voyage. Greased everything you all suggested up and it was easier to work with. Still still but more moveable by hand no need for a mallet to hit the bar to get it off the L bracket even with the tongue raising it up like we had the first time we unhitched. Greasing the ball also really helped unhitching that as well. Thank you so much for all the tips.

Yeah it's either turn your head upside down or flip the hitch head and keep your head right side up.
