Equalizer sway control hitch. How's everyone experience?

Thinking of buying this hitch this coming spring for my newly purchased 2017 24 RBS Jayco Jayflight. Figuring at 1200LB spring bar rating?

How's everyone experience with this model hitch?

I see lots of used one's on FB marketplace, would like to save myself a few $$$,
any disadvantage buying used?

I’ve been using the equalizer 4 point anti sway hitch on my Toyota Tacoma for a couple of years now. I like it a lot. It takes a little time to get it set-up correctly with your trailers tongue wt, and truck load initially, but once you tweak it correctly, it’s a simple hook up there after.

I have used this hitch for years and like it. However, I have not owned another hitch so have nothing to compare it to.

Equalizer is one of the most, if not the most, popular WDH on the market. I would have no problem buying a used model so long as everything is there and not damaged.

We have a Curt Tru-Track which is the same design as an Equalizer. I haven't checked prices lately, but I bought it on sale at eTrailer and was able to save a couple hundred bucks.

Mike,

The "Equal-i-zer Hitch" brand WDH with integrated sway control is a popular and reliable WDH. A used WDH would be fine as long as the components aren't worn, and the 1,200lb rating would be ideal for the 24RBS.

Like any WDH, proper adjustment under 'loaded' TV/TT conditions is key to optimizing the performance of the WDH. A CAT Scale visit performing a 3-pass weigh-in is the best way to dial-in a WDH:

We've had our Equalizer 4-Point since 2012, and like slabat, it's the only hitch we have experience with since it was what the dealer gave us when we bought our TT.

Equalizer has been in business for a very long time, and offer a quality hitch, with terrific customer support. Once set up properly, the only maintenance we do is a yearly re-torque of the bar socket bolts. Only takes a minute.

I'm fortunate to have a truck stop/certified cat scale about 5 miles from my house. I plan to do the 3 point weigh in as described in the link

I'm used to the noise from my cheap friction bar on my current setup, I wonder if the EQ is much worse?

I use their grease on the hitch head pivot points they show in the manual (or website) to use it on, and the plastic pads on the L brackets. No squawking or creaking noise 99.9% of the time.

I'm using a Fastway E2, which is the same as the Equalizer E4, but it's 2 points of sway control instead of 4. I have a relatively small trailer. It works fantastic. I had a traditional trunnion bar and chain WDH with sway control bar before. Night and day difference. And it's very quiet compared to the old chain setup. It's also way easier to connect and disconnect.

I would not hesitate to buy a used one. Check the L brackets for excessive wear. You can buy replacement L brackets. For the E4 you can also get sleeves for the L brackets to reduce noise if yours does make noise.

I had this same hitch with our last TT (now on our second 5th) and absolutely loved it! So much better than the one we used earlier but a tad more difficult to set up than our earlier hitch. Well worth the extra expenditure and effort. And get the nylon(?) "anti-squeal" pads too, they greatly reduce the amount and volume of the "groans" the hitch is capable of omitting. I have E2-trunnion-hitch with 1200 lbs bars. Mine was noisy. I read the instruction after a year and found I was to grease the trunnion and they make nylon slide pads for the spring bars. Now I don't hear it. Also grease the trailer ball. So, I am happy.

We use a Husky Centerline TS hitch and it has performed well over the years even in severe cross winds we experienced out West. Proper setup/adjustment is key as with any WD hitch. I used the Curt Better Weigh module to set mine up and I use it every time before a trip to check for proper distribution of what we load up both in the trailer and the PU. Not as accurate as a CAT scale however I've found comparing it to a CAT scale that it is within + or - 30 lbs of my actual tongue weight, $99 investment for piece of mind.

When I had a EQ hitch it was great once dialed in. Another way I judge a product is through their support after you own it. They exceeded in that area.

I love my Equalizer. Flawless in every way. The noise, well that tells me it's back there doing it's job. And it does it very well. I personally wouldn't use any other.

I’ve had 2 different Eqalizers! 6000 and 12000!

Both worked excellent! Very confident towing at highway speeds!

Leaning on buying the Equalizer 4 point sway new on Amazon

I'm in no shape to torque the ball shank nut to 430 ft LBS as described in the directions. I do business with a local garage, they mentioned they can cheater bar it for me but I'll never know if it is correctly torqued?

any other suggestions?
