Expedition EL

Looking for anyone towing with the Expedition EL. I am looking at a 2013 EL Limited for a new TV. I am towing a 2016 X23F and use a WDH. What is your experience with the Triton 5.4 motor?

This is my wife's car and it serves us well (2011). While I do not tow with it, properly setup it should be okay as long as you are under it's capacities. I understand there are other versions of this model out there with significantly more tow capacities you might want to explore.

My personal opinion is that a few hill climbs in a row and the back loaded up with "stuff" might push a stock one to the limits.

We use it skiing all winter and when loaded it kicks down a gear and revs with the topper, gear and 5 people.

Search around in the forums specific to this vehicle to see what you find out.

Cam phasers and VCT solenoids are a problem on the 5.4. Timing chain slap sounds like a small diesel.
