Fastway e2 WD hitch for 23B

We are purchasing a '06 Jayco 23B and our T.V. is an '02 Chevy Tahoe (5.3L, 3.73). The dealer has recommended a 1000lb e2 WD hitch with anti-sway.
If the tongue weight does not exceed 500 LB on this trailer, can we safely use the 600LB e2 hitch?

Yes, but it would require diligence insuring that the loaded tongue weight didn't exceed the E2 WDH 600lb loaded tongue weight limit ........ we all have different loading habits.

My BIL had an '06' 23B and his actual loaded tongue weight was 650lbs (tanks empty) and used a standard WDH rated at 800lbs.

I have the e2 10k and my X23B tongue weight is right at 600#.
As for the hitch I have no complaints. It's my first TT and first WDH so I don't have anything to compare it to but it works for us. I had to tighten everything up after a couple of trips but nothing serious. The bars make a startling noise when they slide on their perches but after a few "whuzzat's" I've gotten used to it. It tows nice behind the Expedition, big trucks passing will move us around a little but nothing too exciting.

I have the 1000# e2 hitch on my Jay Feather 226. Unloaded tongue weight is about 380#. At max load, it could go up to 742# (15% of 4950#).
The 1000# hitch works perfectly for me. I would rather err on the side of having to much hitch than not enough.

I guess I would go with the 800/8000 Fastway e2.

Sometimes when you go too stiff on the spring bars, your lowest setting may be too high.
