Question FIC ETJ3500 Electric Jack failed which brand to replace with?

We have 2019 Jayco Whitehawk 29BH trailer.
After 10 months of not using it when we tried to hitch the electric jack failed.
We have FIC ETJ3500 Electric Jack original with the trailer, so it is about 5 years old. Turned out all electric parts were corroded due to the cover not being water proof (now we know it is a common issue).

We need to replace the motor, the switch and the control board. The ONLY place that sells the parts is https://www.wescofastec.com (you need to call, the parts are not listed online). The total cost for all parts and shipping is $110. We can replace them ourselves.

The new jack is around $200. Both parts and new jack come with 1 year warranty.

Is it worth spending an extra $100 to get brand new jack?
Are there any other models that are better and a compatible with our trailer?

Welcome to the Forum from Western New York State!

There are several good brands of jacks available that'll replace yours. Just an opinion, but I would replace the whole jack, considering what they want for all those parts, plus your time involved, and the possibility that some of your connections may be corroded as well. Difficult to say for sure without being able to see it. Replacing it is easy, by supporting the tongue with a jack and removing the three attachment bolts and a power wire. Lowering the front stabilizer jacks would add an additional bit of stability.

I can only speak from personal experience about the Bulldog brand of jack having owned two of them. There are others as well that members have and speak highly of.

Edit: The Bulldog jacks have a 5-year warranty.

I would be surprised if all of the parts referenced require replacing, it could be as simple as a thermal breaker that needs replacement. I am not saying that all of the parts are not corroded though and instead I am saying that those parts may still work. I will also add that if there is corrosion in the shaft below the motor then the jack may be froze and still not work with all of the parts referenced.

Does your jack have a manual handle that you can use? If so, does that work as that would help indicate if the shaft assembly is corroded and frozen up?

I would likely replace it if you can't easily disassemble it and test the individual components. I would follow JFlightRisk suggestion for replacing it with a more popular model that has high reviews. That way if needed to replace a part on it then you will be more likely and more easily get parts for it. ~CA

I would guess that 99.9% of trailers don't have covered jacks and get water through them. Why do you think all those parts failed?
