Fifth wheel height

So I installed a new B&W Companion slider in my Ram 3500 dually short box. Left the height adjustment at the center position which allows me a further adjustment of a couple of inches either way. Hooked up and on reasonably level ground had 6.5” of clearance over both left and right side bed rails and 7.5” of clearance over the top of the tailgate. At this setting the camper looks about dead level.

My question is, are the heights I measured “typically” acceptable or should I increase the height by adjusting the hitch to the next highest setting?

Thanks in advance.

Your measurements sound good but you need to check your overall height of your 5er to make sure your not over 13'6" which is max legal height for most states. Some states are little higher at 14'.

That sound what about right, you want at least 6' between the rail and underneath your 5th wheel. Can you post any pics of your setup?
