The unmeasurables are the increases in engine bearing and turbo bearing longevity due to no more EGR and fuel washout in the oil, plus knowing youíll never replace a DPF, 9th injector, DEF heater or pump or an EGR valve or cooler. So far in 8000 miles on my 11 Iíve seen a 4 mpg increase in stock mode down to a 2 mpg decrease in full performance and just under 1 mpg towing. I have a very heavy foot.

The mileage gains are beyond anything I've seen from deletes, mine or others. Hand calc'd or from the lie-o-meter display?

We have bi-annual emissions tests here after 7 yrs and I had to put it back to stock to trade it. I sold all my parts for more than I paid as I'd bought the H&S before the EPA crackdown boosted the prices.

What is the build date on your '11?

Ford not ready to surrender it's truck Domination!

Those are hand calculated numbers. I was at 14.3 stock with no trailer and Iím at 18.3 now, went from 13.1 towing my fifth wheel to 14 even. Of course when I tow heavy itís less than that, down around 11. Iím thinking my mileage results are somewhat due but to the human nature factor. When Iím in stock mode Iím probably mentally trying to maximize mileage, whereas when Iím in full performance mode Iím doing it for the you know what eating grin on my face... combine that with the huge amounts of fuel and boost that the tune is dumping on that setting and I end up at just over 11.

Admittedly my truck has been updated. It was built in March 2010 but ford replaced the long block at 40,000 miles for the original owner in 2012 and I put a new turbo on last year at 172,000 with the updated bearings.

I just did my delete on my 14 F350 and my mileage has decreased slightly. I wish I could get those kinds of numbers. Before delete my average combined economy was right at 17.5. After, Iíve been getting 16.5-17.
I have come to the conclusion that those who see the big gains in mpg are guys with the earlier trucks. The 14-16 trucks just donít seem to get better economy after the delete as far is Iíve been able to tell.

At some point you need more than a pickup. But like I said before, the vast majority don't need or benefit from all this. Its the mine is bigger than yours crowd that thinks their rv looks better behind the latest greatest most powerful new truck out of Detroit.

Motor trend truck award is a marketing hoax. Its not about hating fords or Chevy's or what ever. Its about trying to appear to the public as the greatest ever, until next year.

my 6.2L gets the same mileage as my neighbors 3.5 turbo... so no savings there... and no turbo problems for me... him not so much...
They make the 150 with the 5.0 V8 and for 2018 are going to offer the 3.0 Powerstroke

Rumor has it that GM may also be developing a 1/2 ton diesel.

yea but the 5L is a slouch.. 385hp/386ft/lbs so 35 short on hp but the kicker is the 74 ft/lbs short on torque... I give them credit you can at least get 3.73's though...GM has it but you have to special order it...

I wouldn't touch another diesel during the first 3 years from any manufacturer no matter how many "miles" they "tested" them...

I thought Nissan already had a diesel in their small truck? I know dodge has a small one but not in the 1/2 ton...

Makes sense since the little brother Colorado pickup has the 2.8 turbodiesel available. I have seen several around since the GM proving grounds are near by and have talked to a few engineers filling up the Colorado with diesel, its a very quiet diesel.

Dodge has had a 3.0L V6 diesel in the 1500 trucks since 2014, and Nissan has the Cummins 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel available in the Titan since 2016
