Ford Superduty 5th wheel prep

Has anyone added OEM 5th wheel prep to their 2023 Ford Superduty?
Looking at a new truck has the tow technology package but no 5th wheel prep.

I did to a 2022 SuperDuty. The dealer took it to a shop that installed a factory Ford kit. If I had to do it over again I'd make sure they installed the 5th wheel prep before doing the spray in box liner. Other than that I'm happy with the results.

I added a 7-pin plug into the bed of my 2022 F350, which did not come with the fifth wheel prep or under bed mount. I used a kit from Hopkins, that plugged in at one of the unused plugs under the truck, driver's side, near the hitch, and routed up to the bed. I did it for a slide in truck camper, so I mounted it slightly forward of the wheel well on the driver's side, close to where my camper pigtail came out of the camper. IIRC the factory Ford fifth wheel plug mounts at the very rear of the bed side wall, driver's side.

The Hopkins kit I got was for the Ford aluminum body trucks, so it came with aluminum screws. I used a hole saw to cut the hole. Pretty easy, the aluminum cuts and drills easily. I didn't need to add any fuses or do anything under the hood or under the dash.

I don't have pics because I don't have that truck any more.

I added the OEM 5th wheel Puck system to my last Superduty. It wasn't overly difficult but I did have a lift to raise the bed off the frame making it much simpler.

Waiting the dealer to give me a price on adding the 5th wheel prep package.
You would think if they built a truck with a towing technology package it would be set up for towing anything

You are right, the truck should have it but the puck system is an option that has to be selected. Whoever ordered the truck decided not to or failed to check that block.

I had a friend who recently ordered a new F350 with the FW prep. Picked it up early summer and it didn’t have it. Ford just said sorry. Parts issues. So, it may have been ordered with that. He found the parts elsewhere and installed himself. Sounded like the hardest part was getting through the bed liner.

I eneded up passing on that truck. Dealer wanted a ridiculous amount of money to install the puck system.

X2, we ordered our '21 Ram specifically with the puck system to pull our camper, and the option had to be checked. Actually I had to request the hitch, which was part of the package, to be deleted as I already had my own. No way I would take ownership with it missing.
