Goodyear Silent Armor or Hankook Dynapro?

I need new tires on my TV and narrowed it down to 2 choices and am looking at getting some advise from you folks. I need AT tires due to my job and go offroad 10-20% of the time. Goodyear Silent Armor or Hankook Dynapro AT-M RF10. I like Goodyear for they are American made but have concerns on the sidewall strength and I don't know why. Hankook is highly recommended by my Chevy dealer but costs $400 more. I guess that the Goodyear may last me 40,000 miles costing me $0.023/mile and the Hankook may last me 50,000 costing me $0.0265/mile.

I have not run them but came very close to buying them at one time many people really liked them., had great reviews at the time Then couldn't get the size I wanted. Ended up with the goodyear adventure with kevlar and it worked very well. got 58k out of the set on my 01 2500. Just bought a set for my 17 3500 since the firestones were toast at 33k. Hopefully I get the 50k plus out them as well.

Around here the Silent Armor is getting hard to find and has been replaced mostly by the "all terrain adventure w/ kevlar". I'm a big fam of both of these for good on-raod manners, decent in snow and mild mud/gravel.

The Hankook tires are great tires, on my 2003 2500hd excsb that I towed about 50% of the time I got just shy of 60,000 out of the tires. The only gripe I have with them is that if you are not diligent on rotating the tires they will start to cup on the steer axle. On a related note I have Cooper Discoverer AT/3 on my 2006 2500hd ccsb and have been really impressed with the wear and performance. I have around 40,000 on these and still have around 25% tread depth left.

The choice is simple, but I think you've left other viable options out. Support USA produced goods to the extent you can, and the tire industry is as important as any other.

I really liked my Hankook MT's and have friends who speak highly about their AT's as well.

Have always run Michlin. Went to Hankook, it's like running on balloons. Handling is really bad. Due to cost will have to run them for a couple of years then it is back to Michlins.

I have hankook Dynapro on my truck, I have been very pleased and surprised by their towing performance and stability. They were installed by previous owner, and I was (my family too) always a Michelin or Cooper fan, i will definitely add and consider these tires to the list of tires I really like, JMO

OP since you mentioned liking Goodyear as they are American made, Cooper are also American made.

I have Cooper Discoverer AT3s in load range E and they have been great. They’re quiet and handle great whether I’m towing or not.

I got set of cooper's on my yukon and I can't seem to keep them balanced and they are not wearing very well. Sounds like im rolling down the road on a set of mudders. Friend of mine has the same tires on a different vehicle and is having the same wear issues. These tires are getting rotated and balanced every 5k. When I had them put on, The yukon went across the street and got a front end alignment and I told them to check the front end out and see if they could find anything that needed to be replaced, ball joints, tie rod ends, pitman arm, idler arm, etc... I was putting them to a test to see if they were going to bend me over on something that didn't need to be replaced. Little did they know a week earlier I was at my buddy shop ans we threw it on the hoist and gave it a once over and everything was good and tight. Dealer was surprised to see it needed a little camber adjustment on the left side and that's it.
I've never had real good luck with Coopers so when these wear out, I'm going to a set of Michelin appropriate BFG tires for it. BFG is made by Michelin anyway.

I have the hancooks on my F150 and I will absolutely buy them again. They ride great and hook well in the New England winters. With about 50k on them I will ride them out till next winter. I also have them on my jeep jk. However I agree that they will wear a little funny if you aren't good about rotating them. But that goes for a any tire. My only experience with Goodyear tires are a set of duratracs that I had on a bronco and they dug great but didn't last. However they are a totally different tire than you are looking at

If US made is a concern, Hankook is now make in TN.

Hankook Tire was founded in South Korea in 1941 as the Chosun Tire Company. The company name was changed in 1953 to Hankook Tire. Hankook built a new tire factory in Clarksville, Tennessee, USA that began producing tires in 2016

I've found their tires to be better than Goodyear.

Well I went with my gut and past experience and bought the Hankook tires. I have a few hundred miles on them and they feel good and are not mushy or soft as some reviews have said. It really made me feel better reading the post I have quoted above.

Very Happy with these thus far.

The above is not entirely true. Hankook opened a manufacturing facility in Clarksville, TN, and began producing tires in September 2017; and the wages are below what the industry standard is. The initial focus of the Clarksville plant is an all season passenger car tire. Therefore, anyone here with Hankook's has tires manufactured in South Korea.
The tire industry has suffered because of cheap imports from South Korea, China, Indonesia, etc....; and it's our responsibility as a consumer to know where our products are coming from, and the impact of our purchase. Inexpensive products are inexpensive for a reason, and often it's because lower cost materials (often inferior) and lower cost labor are used, and the later affects our future success. I'm always amazed the trust people put into a cheap tire, while they are driving a very capable vehicle; it is not logical.
The above being said, I am disappointed to see Ford use Hankook tires to the extent they do, especially in the F-150. Tires are a significant purchase, and one where there are choices, and if we all want to help our own economy (therefore our pocket), then demanding a USA made tire should be a priority.
