GVWR and GAWR

I picked up a 2013 Silverado 2500HD this summer. We are looking to upgrade our 5th wheel and I am concerned about pin weight on the “extended stay” models

The trucks door sticker is unreadable. Any idea where I can get this information? My “gasser” had a 6200 Rear axle rating but I am looking for a source to confirm.

Thanks, that’s what I needed (9500 and 6200), now to a scale to find my “no trailer” weights...

Specs won't provide pin weight. You need to weigh the truck with driver, passenger, full fuel, hitch and cargo. Subtract that from GVWR of 9500 for remaining payload or pin weight. Also after weighing the truck you'll have the rear axle weight. Subtract that from the Gross Axle Wt Rating - Rear (lbs) 6200. If your within those two weights, then you've satisfied the manufacturers numbers.

Sorry. I was typing when you replied. I figured you knew what to do.

Yup, I am towing now so I have the cargo box (with tools, etc) and hitch installed. Just need to add two passengers to the scale weight.

I had a ‘16 2500. Same as your 13. Here’s my numbers from an Eagle 321RSTS. One of the weekender fivers so lighter than a Pinnacle or Northpoint. I was just under rear axle. Over MGVWR. I installed some Sumos and all was good. Not by numbers, but in how it handled etc. I now have a 3500 SRW. Larger capacities but same tow experience minus the addition of Sumo’s. I don’t know that I’d go to one of the higher end fivers with a 3/4 ton. Then again, someone would’ve said the same of my setup and it was good. All depends on how it feels to you and what you’re comfortable with.

We have an F250 with 10,000# GVWR, and it actually weighs more than #7500 without the rv attached. If we fully loaded our 28.5 to 10,995, and had a 20% pin weight, (2200#) , we would be within 300# of our maximum allowed pin weight.

I can't imagine anything heavier than our 28.5 (10995#) ever being towed with our truck, and yours has 500# less GVWR.

If we just took it to the county park a few times a year, maybe I'd push it- but we plan to go everywhere.

I had the impression he had a gasser which had the 9500lb gvwr, but now he’s got a 2013 diesel. It should have a 10000lb gvwr. Maybe I read it wrong.

I feel your pain. Timbrens, air shocks, over load springs.

Go talk to a good truck spring shop. Tell them your concerns. Tell them your looking to max out your truck.

Maxing out the truck no matter the add-ons is 9500#

Good point. DavidJay now has a Duramax. I've combed the internet and it's like finding a needle in a haystack. I can't find the Duramax version with all the specs. Whoever finds the official numbers for GVWR, GAWR front, GAWR rear, payload, GCWR etc gets the prize!!!

DavidJay. You might have to email the manufacturer and ask for a link or a pdf document they can send to you. Make sure to give them all the options that you are aware of, such dif ratio, box and cab size. You may very well have more capacity!

DavidJay, I had a 2015 Silverado 2500HD, 6.0L gas, 4WD, Crew Cab, 6'7" box. I remember my payload capacity at 2723 lbs. Your diesel, if 4wd, CC, and standard bed will be barely north of 2100 lbs.

GVWR and GAWR

Sound about right.... mine was 2300 and change.

David.... you’re in the same boat as myself this summer. We had an HT. Great trailer, but we wanted more creature comforts for long trips. I was right at max as far as spec numbers go with the HT. With the Eagle I was 900lbs over as stated above. I recently upgraded my truck. Primarily I wanted the newer Duramax LP5 and figured I’d go with a 3500 while I’m at it. The 3500 with no mods and my Eagle trailer rides nearly identical to my 2500 with Sumo springs. The Sumos were a hair harsher than riding on the upper overload spring that makes a 3500 a 3500. That may not even be totally accurate as I’m on new shocks vs 40k mile stock cheapos. Again, I don’t think the Pinnacle and Northpoints are 2500 territory, but the Eagles are probably fine. Depends on your definition of extended stay fiver. Mine has a max gross of 12700. Food for thought.
