Hauler body

Anyone have any experience with removing their bed box and going to a flatbed? We have a 2019 Ram 3500 long bed dually that we use to tow our 43' North Point. Looking at getting a CM Hauler body or something similar and wanted to see if anyone has regretted going this route.

Thanks!

One of my friends has a Ram 3500 C&C with a flatbed on it. Absolutely loves it for his truck camper. I'll ask him and get back to you with the specifics on his bed.

I just spoke with him. He has the CM "RD Steel Flat Deck" on his truck. Very satisfied with it.

My buddy that is the Fleet Manager has a Ram 5500 Crew Cab that he put a Bradford Built bed on. His has the louvered headache rack, fold-down side rails, forward and rear tool boxes under the bed and the B&W hitch for his 5'er. He put a 100gal diesel auxiliary tank up against the headache rack. His rig has a 33,000 GCWR and is set up nice!

FYI, if you are coming from a traditional pickup truck, you will have a hard time installing a hauler body. They are meant to be installed on Cab and Chassis model trucks, which are built to a specific size to be able to handle the conversion. The bed rails on your Chevy likely aren't flat or the correct width to simply lay a hauler body upon and be good.

I'm sure it can be done, but it will likely take some custom fabrication.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah, I had seen that the frame has to be leveled first, usually by welding appropriate sized tubing to the frame rails. We'll see what they say at the installer. Either way, I don't use the bed for much, so hooking up the trailer would be a lot nicer, I imagine.

I have had Wester Hauler and CM hauler beds on quite a few duallys. If you are pulling most of the time they are the way to go. Esp adding a aux fuel tank.
Not real fond of a regular flat bed. I like the extra storage boxes on a hauler type bed. On my Chevy 3500HD I actually got better fuel mileage even though the bed was 1200lbs heavier. Surprising how much air a reg bed with tailgate captures.
