Height of trailer

Hello Jayco owner,

Got an interesting observation. I own a 2014 jayco white hawk 23 mbh... we love it. It’s light weight and really like the bunk beds in the back as it fits our needs just fine. My common observation is that every time I’m setting up where ever I’m camping, the front of the trailer always seems to need to be so high up the ground to be level. I feel like the tongue jack is always almost all the way out... makes me a bit u comfortable sometimes... I look at other trailers and some seem to sit so much lower than my jayco.. I’m still new to owning a trailer so excuse me is my question may be a bit silly but can anyone offer any insight? Is this just a design difference of jayco trailers?? Thx

Do you have the Baja edition that includes the factory axle flip for added height? If so, I agree. It is really high in comparison to anything else you run across in a campground. I just compensate by adding extra blocks under the tongue jack and stabilizers so they don't have to be extended so far.

I extend the tongue jack as little as possible as I feel it helps with the shaking feeling you get while inside.

I have "extra" blocks and extend my tongue jack and stabilizers as little as possible. We carry 30 plastic blocks and use them all for stabilization, except for the 2 -4 we use under the front step to assure that the first step is always a solid platform.

Height of trailer

Thanks for the answers, not sure if you can see it in the pic but the tongue is all the way out... and I was still a bit tilted in the front.. never heard of the Baja edition but I’ll look into it.

What is your level hitch height? If it is in the 26.5" to 28.5" I'm almost positive that you have a Baja edition trailer. Hitch height on a standard Jayco is normally in the low 20's max.

Wow, if the trailer is truly level front to back, that would have to be a Baja edition; that rig looks high! And it looks like you have a Stromberg Carlson (or similar) jack, which have an 18" travel and 22+" lift, so the a-frame is really up there!

Height of trailer

Thank you all again for your input. It’s been very helpful and indeed I do think the switched axles is the culprit of why I always feel like my trailer is so high ... I have a lead on what I’m going to need to do to lower it down. I attached another pic for those who were able to give me some pointers showing the full height that my trailer sits.. thank you all again.

Just wondering why you would want to lower it. Those of us that intentionally purchased the Baja edition units did so for the ground clearance going in and out of sites and areas that aren't always flat. I've yet to drag the back of my current trailer even when trying to get in to some pretty interesting areas.

Height of trailer

Didn’t start out considering to lower it but I don’t really do much of road camping , my black tank in this model really isn’t large enough, maybe a two day trip maybe if I’m careful three days but then I’m full. But the reason I was wondering about the stance is mainly because when I’m parked the tongue just seems to have to be out almost complete and it just concerns me that it’s out to much , you know,? Maybe I’m worrying about nothing.. and even sometimes when it’s out almost all the way the front of my rig is still not leveled..
just made me wonder why is that and te one thing I noticed is that the trailer does sit higher than other trailers I see in the Rv parks. I do have to say on the other hand that I get great clearance on just about everything... lol

Much easier and cheaper to just throw a couple of extra blocks under the jack. I wouldn't lower it. These lifted trailers are unique and even if you don't take advantage of it, the next owner just may when you sell it.

I would probably not lower it, either.

There are a lot of advantages to that height, especially for boondocking and navigating around sloped roadways and driveways. It also makes it easier to drain your gray and black water tanks into a portable, wheeled waste tote. My drain pipes sits very low on my 224bh. It's also easier to crawl underneath to do work.

The Baja Edition also comes with some other nice extras, like larger water capacities, from what I remember.

Under the front leg it should be one solid block, to prevent from sliding.
