Help,I need a hitch

We're trading our TT on a 28.5 RSTS and I know less than nothing about
fifth wheel hitches.We're towing with a 2016 chev 3500hd 6.5 ft. box.
Do I absolutely need a slider? my dealer suggested a pro-series 16k.
I'm thinking more like BW patriot 16k. any pros, cons.dos, donts or advice?

I have a Reese Pro Series 20K and am happy with it. I had a RAM 2500 with a 6.5’ box when we had our Eagle, and though I had a slider, never needed it.

I’ve heard great things about the B&W hitches, and would strongly consider one if I ever had to replace the Reese

Thanks for the input Robkelly, exactly the kind of real life experience I was hoping for.
They will install the patriot for $250 more than the pro-series.seems like the way to
go to me.

I've got the Patriot and have been very happy with it. Similar truck bed and trailer nose.

After trying Reese and Curt with a few different trailers over the years we went to a Patriot 18K and were amazed at the difference in quality of hitch and ride.
My vote...B&W hands down.

We tow our 28.5 RSTS with our F250. It has the 6.5’ bed and we don’t use a slider. So far, we haven’t encountered any place we couldn’t get into.

If I didn't have this hitch, my cab would have been toast by now.
I can't judge the others, but this works really well or me.

I use an Andersen Ultimate hitch and can easily make a 90 degree turn and not hit my cab. Weighs 40 lbs and pulls great, no chucking.

I have a 6.5 foot bed on my GMC.

I have a B&W Companion (non-sliding) in our short bed Ford. My insurance co. Paid about $500 for me to learn a slider would have been a good idea. I still have that setup but use caution when making tight turns. I think the hitch is great and only blame myself for the broken rear window.

X2 on the Andersen Ultimate. Only weights 40 lbs. too!

Happy RVing,
Jeff
