Hitch for 6’4” box with 377RLBH

I’m sure this has been asked many times, but I can’t find an answer in the search.

How far can you turn with a non-sliding hitch with the 377RLBH? The new truck arrived yesterday and I need to get the hitch in the next couple of days. It’s a mega cab 3500 so there was no 8’ bed option. From a pure measure method I’d get a 12” slide to get to 90, but being lazy I’d rather not have a 300lb hitch to remove either. Some first hand experience on the angle I could get to without a slider would be hugely helpful. Being a little OCD when towing means I’m not willing to move the hitch rear of the axle to get a better angle without the slide though. I’m thinking I will need the slider (B and W companion with 12” travel) but it would be nice if I could forego the extra weight when it comes to installing and removing it.

Thanks in advance to anyone with input.

Could always go with a Sidewinder hitch if needed for the extra room. Used one for two years in my ‘18 Ram 1500 and it gave me 90 degree clearance. FWIW.

I tow my 377 with a '16 Ram 3500 megacab dually with a B&W Companion manual slider. I can get to about 80 degrees (without engaging the slider), but I've never really needed to go to that extreme. I've engaged the slider 2 times since I've had this combo. Once to test it and see how it worked and once to pull out of a site that was a pretty tight turn. I couldn't say that I needed to engage the slider in that instance, but I figured better safe than sorry.

Thank you for the answers. I’m thinking I may go with the fixed companion for now if it’s good for up to the 80 degree range. I like the extra safety buffer of the slider, but not as much as I dislike the weight.

I have a 2019 mega cab dually and use the pullrite superglide. I had one in my old truck but not before I got into a tight situation and kissed my cab to the tune of 3500.00 to fix. Got 14 good years out of it and C/S at pullrite is topnotch. My superglide isn't light at 270 Ilbs but it is lighter than many out there..Fits nice in the factory puck system... good luck in your search.

I just installed a Andersen Ultimate in my sb truck. So far I'm impressed with it. Look at the Andersen website and they have a great section on how to determine if it will work on most any truck.

Very light and easy to install. I did have to have a B&W turnover ball installed. I can get almost 80 degrees easily.
