Hitch recommendation

Hi there! I have tried to search the thread for an answer, but I am getting a bit confused. We are looking to get a 154BH Baja. I will be towing with a 2005 double cab tundra. The dealer is trying to sell us the Equal-i-zer® 4-Point Sway Control hitch. Is this a good set up? Do you have a recommendation for another hitch?

I use a Blue Ox Sway Pro WDH and love it. It works great and setup is pretty simple. I actually just ordered a new one for our new camper (new camper is an underslung coupler).

Huge fan of the Equal-I-Zer hitch. Have never had a problem with it. That being said, there are a lot of very good hitches on the market. I guess it depends on who you ask. But basically, they all do just about the same thing.

I agree with TWO723: I'm an Equal-I-Zer hitch fan and owner, too.

Although basically all weight distribution hitches do the same thing, they use different anti-sway methods.

I agree as well. There are a lot of good hitches. Just make sure you get both components, sway control and weight distribution.

I wouldn't use anything but the Equalizer on a bumper pull trailer. It's a top notch setup with lots of adjustability, easy to use, and has great built in sway control.

The Equal-I-Zer system is very good. Couple minor down sides are if you buy a bigger trailer you will need to buy a completely new system as you can not buy just the bars. The other is when compared to the Reese SC system (very similar to the 4 way) the Equal-I-Zer hitch head does not have as much fine tuning adjustability as the Reese hitch head does. But as I mentioned, very minor.

But you can not go wrong with either system!!!

I have a blue Ox sway pro and love it. Easy to set up, and if you upgrade to a larger trailer all you need is new bars.

I just switched to the 4 point Equalizer wdh from a round bar system with the friction sway control bar. I did my first tow with it last weekend and I must say it is a huge improvement. I want to get a longer drive with it yet but that first tow made me very happy I upgraded to system with intregrated sway control.

I have used both the Equalizer (current setup) and an older Reese hitch that was updated to dual cam. Both worked great. The key as others said, make sure you get the integrated sway control.

WDH using simple lift chains does not have sway control. In my opinion it is not worth it after upgrading from that style on the Reese to the dual cam setup.

I'll never go back to a simple WDH.
