Hitch shank help!

We just installed our WDH and we had to buy a new shank because the one that came with it wasn’t low enough. Now the new one is too long and only sits a few inches off the ground, I’m wondering if anyone has cut a few inches off the bottom to give a little more clearance? And how you went about doing it?

A weld shop will have a band saw or power hacksaw that will be capable to do the job.

As Racin said - most of the shanks can be flipped up or down. What brand WDH did you buy? And yes, pictures would be very helpful.
