Hitch slop when stop and go

I have a Equalizer set up for my truck. Is there any trick to get rid of the hitch slop when you come to a stop or when taking off.Its annoying and I always feel like something is wrong but its just the hitch.

I looked closely at mine, and realised that the "clonk" was actually from the pin that secures the hitch into the receiver.

There has to be enough clearance to let the pin fit through both sides of the hitch bar and the receiver, so there will, inevitably, be some play to take up when you start off.

If there's a lot of slack, the receiver fitting may be worn.

Just take 1/8 x 1. 1/2" x 8" length flat iron, bend 1" to 90 degrees. Then take a hammer and pound it in the back of the bottom hitch receiver. The 90 down towards the road.
The hitch will be solid. Lubricate with WD40 to remove it and pound on the 90 with a hammer.

Try a different hitch pin/lock. The one I have, just one I had around from previous towing set ups is pretty tight/snug in the hole when locking the hitch head to the truck. I just get a bit of moaning and groaning from my bars on occasion. Could try wrapping some tape around the pin to snug it up as a test.

Yea I could try that.I mean if it's normal which it seems to be there isnt much I can do.Just a little nerve racking at times thinking something's wrong when you get a little thump each time you take off from one of the most important parts of towing the trailer.I also had way to much air in my air bags,I was about 350lbs lighter coming home,so there was a bit of a higher angle, that could have been why it seemed worse this time

Where exactly is your hitch slop? Where the receiver slides together or in the ball/trailer portion. Neither one should have any play to speak of. If they do then something is wrong and needs addressing.

I'm guessing I just feel the hitch moving up and down during stop and go since it has a little play in the receiver tube which most hitches have
