Hitch'n up the TT
Just as an FYI the first things to do before " hitch'n up" put a little dielectric grease on / in both ends of youe electric connector and a little standard grease on the ball & up in the trailer hitch. Both will make you life easier. Larry

You are so right Larry. Just recently did that and have no problems hooking up or getting the ball to release.

It has always amazed me to watch some people fight with a rusty hitch lock, rusty WDH spring bars and corroded electric connectors. Especially when they are one of the easiest things to give some attention to. A little grease can sure make things work easier.
On the same note it is apparent that many park their camper in the yard after a camping trip and never touch it again until the day before the next trip. Only to find mildew, dead battery and insects varmints have decided the camper make a great condo.
Admittedly I have learned a lot by observing these types and the problems they encounter. Then devise ways and habits to avoid the same issues.

Chuck - you're 100% right on watching others and learning from both their good points and their mistakes. When we return from a trip, we always try to get the 5er ready for the next trip as much as possible before we lock it up.

Great tip on the dielectric grease, never thought about it before but certainly on my list now. I have always greased the hitch and ball....it's crazy the number of folks who don't care or don't know better.

X2^^ It never ceases to amaze me the number of people who don't lubricate the moving parts of their hitch system. They're the ones that you can hear creaking their way around the campground. Try to envision the amount of pressure in such a small area on your hitch when you have a tongue weight of 500 lbs or so...that's a lot of PSI on the ball and spring bar contact points.

I usually grease the ball and hitch but just spray WD-40 on the connectors. WD-40 Does wonders for good connections. Even a little dab behind your ears doesn't hurt either...

I grease the ball and put a rubber cap on it when it's not hitched up. That keeps in the grease on the ball and not on your pants or legs when reaching for stuff in the bed of the truck.

I use this soft rubber one from Hitch Mate, works great.

I keep a can of greese in the storage locker. Every time I go to hook up, I just take the lid off, turn it upside down and submerge the ball in the can.
