And I am spending a ton of $$$ on my elderly 2005 Duramax on preventative maintenance, etc. in hopes of driving/towing another 100,000 miles with it. But it's mine now so all in all, I am better off....just not as stylish. (But I still want a new one)

Yeah my FIL recently spent $4200.00 on his Duramax on injectors, etc right around 100,000 miles. Ouch.

Double Ouch, Crabby.....I just replaced rear seals on my axle at around 300 bucks..that kind of repair I can live with. I hope your FIL's injector problems are not the norm for a Duramax at 100K. If so, I will be biting the bullet on a 2012-2013 real soon.

I believe there were a few years prone to the injector problem. His is around a 2000 model 3500 dually primarily used for towing.

OK, I had heard that sometime ago....I want to get to 200K before trading, and believe I can as long as I have no major mechanical malfunctions...that's the reason I am really keeping up with the routine and preventative maintenance on this beast.

The Crabman's innocent!

Gee, um, I know some folks have been blaming the Crabman for inspiring them to upgrade their trucks. To those that have, I congratulate you, wish you the best of luck with them, hope you didn't put yourselves in the poor farm, and are still on speaking terms with your significient other.

However, there's a little secret here that I'm going to confess to. You're blaming the WRONG person.

You see, last July my wife, son and I visited the Crabman and he got a close look my 2009 GMC 2500-HD crew cab. It seems that not too long after that visit, a similar sized truck appeared in Crabman's driveway.

So, the Crabman is innocent of all charges.

Yep, we can all blame FPM for our indulgences! But he can give testimony that Crabman is for real after that visit to Crabland!
