This seems to be a Chebby GMC thing. Glad I have a Dodge.

No, anyone can catch the fever and upgrade. You might even get that new 5500 Dodge in another thread.

Oh...so FPM is to blame for starting this whole thing? Well then, it seems as if Crabby is merely a copycat then and wasn't the guy starting the buying frenzy. Interesting. I personally felt like Crabby was holding a gun to my head while muttering, "buy, buy, buy"...ha ha.

Crabman, how is your 6.0 doing for mileage when empty? Just curious. Also do you have the 4 speed or 5 speed auto?

It burns almost as much gas as a Sherman tank.

Seriously, I`ve only checked it once when I first got it. In mostly hiway driving but some Hampton Roads city driving I got 15, by the real method. I don`t think I`m getting that much now just bopping around town here, probably more like 13. The "instant fuel economy" computer is all over the place, sometimes it shows 7 and sometimes 21! Towing I`m told to expect around 9.

I think I`ve got the 4 spd, Isnt the 5 spd the Alison and only available in the Duramax or are there two transmissions available for the 6.0?

My Visit to Crabland (It's for REAL!)

Testimony? Why, of course!

Here's a shot of Crabland from the dock. As you can see, it's like a wooden castle with a large moat completely surrounding it.

Crabland has many holding tanks which are used for the peeler crabs. Peelers are crabs that are ready to molt (shed their shell). This is how the crab grows. Once the old shell is shed, the new shell underneath is soft for a period of time which makes the crab very vulnerable to be eaten by its predators, including man. Pumps constantly circulate water from the bay into the tanks.

Here's a plate of sauteed soft shell crabs- ready to be enjoyed. You eat the whole crab, folks- legs, pinchers and body. Soft shell crabs are great as a sandwich too, although, it grosses out some people out when they watch someone eating one with all the legs dangling out. Once you get past eating soft shell crabs, you're ready for escargot!

The allison is only available on the Duramax and big block that they nolonger make. It could be that the 5 speed is on newer models. My son's 04 gets the same mileage.
