I'm surprised dealer did not know previous owner. Was this an auction/salvaged truck?

Mioght it be a "disable switch for a remote starter" which you obviously didn't get the key fob for. Larry

Dealership knew previous owner. Apparently they've had many repeat dealings with customer. Dealer actually bought truck outright from customer instead of trade-in. Privacy laws/policies so I couldn't get info. and I guess they didn't want to bother them with calling since the dealer had truck for a few months, don't know. Bought at Ohio dealership, I live 4 hrs away in Indiana. Truck has a clean title, got the Carfax report. Good suggestion 19H F250 will check for remote starting unit under dash or in engine compartment, didn't see but will take closer look. We have one on wife's Buick Rvous so I know what to look for. Thanks again

Any wires in the glove box? Since it seems to have changed the tone of the radio, maybe your radio has a speed adjustable volume? Some Fords have that and this switch disables / enables it?

Thanks nylyon. Stereo has "speed adjustable volume" option and level settings for that, one of which is 0(off) in the menu options.(plus a lot of options I will never use, does anybody?) No wires in glove box but your suggestion got me thinking. Pulled glove box, which was easier than whole dash panel. Used flashlight, mirrors and some moves better left to a contortionist and saw the wire going from switch, around and around, and back up to cd changer/radio plug. It's been spliced in to the main plug so it does relate to the stereo system somehow. I'd rather it controlled the trailer lights, that would be useful. I now know where to focus at least. Gonna go do some research on it. At least I don't have to pull the dash trim panel only to find out it's indeed tied into the stereo. And I guess it's not TT related so I will stop posting about it on here. Much Thanks to ALL for their ideas. They were very helpful and humorous.

I believe that switch controls the overhead light to the back room of a warehouse in Chicago.

You gotta let everyone know what it is? Maybe it turns off the radio illumination when the head lights are on?

I put those on just before I trade in a vehicle so the next owner will go nuts trying to figure out what the switch is for... yeah I have toooooo much time on my hands...

I think it was the (now inactive) switch to inflate "Otto"- the automatic pilot that was in the movie Airplane!

I had a similar switch like that in my old truck that operated the KC lights on my grill guard. When I sold it I took the grill guard off and the lights too....nothing left but the switch.

Yeah I used to have a toggle switch for fog lights in my younger days.

Maybe it's there to control the power on a stereo amp / subwoofer that was removed from the truck? turn off rear speakers for sleeping kids? supply power to the stereo without having the truck running or all accessories turned on as well?

Thanks for the input folks. Still trying to run down options as to what it would control since it's tied into steroe plug. 3Pillons thanks for the ideas. Factory subwoofer is still currently mounted under rear seat and opposite side is jack/tools etc for tire. No other space for extra subs since it's a SuperCrew and no signs of rear seat removal to mount extra sub boxes. I used to have a bumping stereo back in early 90's that would rattle your fillings and annoy most people(although I was very respectful and conscious of others) so I know some about stereos. Have asked brother his friends(stereo savy) on their opinions. Does not turn off rear speakers for sleeping kids or power to stereo with AUX key position or while in OFF key position. System is a factory Ford Audiophile radio/6 disc changer. Can change sound system setup for seat config. Driver, rear, passenger, ALL. etc Still researching........
