Is my tow vehicle big enough?

I have a 2016 F350 platinum 4x4 single wheel with the 6.7 diesel. I'm looking in buying the 2016 north point 375bhfs fith wheel but I want to make sure I can pull it.

By fords web site, you'll be over since that rig taps out at #16,5 and the 350 SRW can tow #15,7 at the fifth wheel, If you ave a regular cab, you'll have #100 buffer at the fifth.

I'm sure some JOF members with similar TV/FW combinations will chime in....., but I would start with a visit to your local CAT scale and confirm how much "available" payload capacity you actually have..., better then guessing.

Have your TV loaded with full fuel, passengers, and simulated cargo for an accurate CAT weight....., subtract the CAT weight from your TV's specified GVWR...., this is what you have available for a FW's "loaded" pin weight and hitch.

Manufacture's recommend a loaded pin weight in the 15% to 25% range (of FW gross weight), but 20% seems to be the norm. If you tend to pack heavy and/or full time you may want to figure 25%.

The 2016 375BHFS has a 15,975lb GVWR and a published 13,570lb UVW........, "as shipped" UVW in most cases is higher. If the FW in question is on the dealer lot, check the yellow weight sticker to confirm the actual shipped UVW.

You need a dually F350 or better. (F450, F550). The 2016 F350's SRW cap out at 15,700. Believe it or not, the majority of F350 4x4 SRW came with 3.31 or 3.55 gears which puts your GCWR at 23,500 lbs. The 2016 F350 Duallys on the other hand came from the factory with either 3.73's (GCWR 32,100) or 4.30's (GCWR 35,000 with high capacity trailer tow pkg). which pushes the capacity up to 24,000 lbs. with 3.73's and 26,500 lbs. with 4.30's. But they only offered those ratios in the DRW.

From someone who has a 2016 375 and had a F350 SRW 6.7L, can you pull it - Yes. Should you - not in my opinion. After pulling the 375 a few hundred miles, we now have a F350 dually. We love our 375, but it is big and heavy and the dually handles it so much better than the SRW did.

Our 350 ('13 6.7 2WD SRW KR) is 4,580# (Front) and 3360# (Rear). The Rear GAWR is 6,730# which leaves you roughly 3,370# in payload on the rear axle.
If you assume all that cargo will be pin weight the back-calculation (3370/25%) suggests a 5th wheel GVW maximum of 13,480#.
I expect our 350 is a little lighter than yours (2WD vs 4x4).
I agree with the general opinion so far that you'll be over weight.

The good news is your current truck is a hot item. I have a suggestion for you if you decide as I did that DRW was the way to go. Get the Ford fifth wheel prep so you don't have to add rails to the bed. I did that and then went with B and W companion hitch, it's a clean setup that comes out easy and leaves a flat bed in the truck.
