Kayaks

For those of you that tow with a pickup truck with a cover on it and bring your kayaks, where do you carry them? Do they make a ladder rack that will fit under an existing cover? If you use a roof rack, what kind? Thanks for your help.

Jeff

Thanks for the links. Does your ladder rack fit under your bed cover?

I use the tracrac ladder rack I ordered from Home Depot. It clamps on and takes about 5 -10 minutes to remove.
It can’t be used with a tonneau cover. I can swap my tonneau cover for the ladder rack pretty quickly when we have a camping trip planned.
When I’ve got the ladder rack on I lock my generator and bike in the bed of the truck and use a tarp to cover things. I notice that the kayaks provide enough cover that things don’t get too wet anyways.

We use a Hobi 2 person blowup kayak that folds up into a canvas carrying bag. I just put in the bed in front of the hitch.

We have a Thule Tracrac SR ladder rack and use a BAK revolver cover. The BAK Bakflip will also work with the rack.
