A generator from an old 12 volt car, and a windmill on the roof....wait...a tail wind would stop you on a dime....never mind.

Ran into a camper last week who is a retired electrical engineer. He's convinced that towing with electric will be a reality soon. I was all ears- it sounds like the future.

I'll take his opinions with a grain of salt. lol

I had a Prius V for over 50,000 miles and never had any problems. The battery's in hybrids are normally warrenty for ten years. I plan on getting a F150 Hybrid for towing my travel trailer when I can get a deal. In reality I don’t believe the extra cost of a F150 hybrids will pay for it’s self, but I like the options. I have no interest in a all electric vehicle. Biden’s push for electric vehicles is just a pipe dream and may work out for those who don’t drive much.

EVs not ready for prime time for towing RVs? For sure.
But we all need to be prepared to thank the early adopters and the vehicle manufacturers, because it won't be long before EVs are our only option. So let's hope the manufacturers make great strides with EV trucks and with battery and charging development.

Meanwhile, climate change is putting a lot of pressure on ICE vehicles worldwide. And what's particularly aggravating is being behind someone in a diesel who appears for all the world to be rolling coal, but in fact is just a gross polluter who spews a thick, black cloud every time he cracks the throttle. Mile for mile, one of these beasts ofsets hundreds of electrics.

Kudos in particular to Ford for taking on the EV truck challenge. Without this massive investment in R&D, we'd be facing 1970's-like struggles with new vehicles...you may remember the '70's, when gas lines were paired with 5-gallon purchase limits, and the beasts on the road at the time struggled to make 10 MPG. https://media.npr.org/assets/img/201...88246a121f.jpg

We can justifiably chuckle that we aren't there yet, but if you like RV-ing, you'd better hope we get there soon.

PS, someone mentioned the gas/electric Prius. The Prius is consistently one of the most reliable cars on the road. https://www.caranddriver.com/researc...reliable-cars/
