Looked at trucks tonight

Had a few minutes to kill while waiting to pick my son up from a meeting so stopped by the Chevy dealer to looksie around. First one I saw was a drop dead gorgeous burgundy High Country 2500 Dmax. Nice. Really nice. 67K on the sticker, swallow hard. Next one was 3500 dually not quite as well equipped 65K. Looked at one or two 1500`s, priced in the mid 40`s. Got back in truck made mental note to change oil tomorrow. My two 12 yr old trucks will have to do for now. I guess Dave Ramsey would be proud though.

If Toyota doesn't upgrade the suspension and frame on the 2017 Tundra then the Cummins will rob too much payload from an already low payload. Most Tundras are in the 14-1500 range for payload. Drop in a Cummins and the payload will drop to 1000-1200lbs.

Never pay MSRP anyway. You should always get at least $10,000 off.

I'd give the Tundra a couple years before I'd buy one with a new engine. There's always kinks that need to be worked out with first model production. My son's a technician at a diesel shop and says the Cummins Toyota's using is gonna have problems within 5 years. We'll see I guess.

Crabman,

What about a couple year old gently-used pre-owned? When I purchased my TV 2-1/2 years ago, it only had 23,000 miles on it, and I paid $20K less than an identically-equipped new one.

(Dave Ramsey would be proud of you, too!)

Looksie vists are the kiss of death to me. That goes for pretty much anything. I had my car in for service yesterday, and I made it a point not to wander onto the sales floor.

No good would come of it.

Yea, they are expensive. Two years ago we bought our '08 Sierra 1500. That was $20k used and I balked. I like it though.

I've been in the market for a used 2500 diesel for a bit of time now and am just waiting for the right deal to come along. In the meantime, I've made the mistake of swinging through a couple of new truck lots in the process. Seems to take at least a week or so to get over my case of the WantIts every time I do something like this.

We bought our Ram during a stop at a dealer "just to look around". We were not prepared to spend a few hours there and the kids started getting hungry and cranky. I knew we were buying a truck when our salesman ran out, bought our kids some mcdonalds, and set them up to eat at his desk. My wife and I have a strict "no stopping to look around" rule now. No regrets though we're still really happy with the truck.

After pricing out a new Expedition and the Travel Trailer we would want (our gear were both 2005) we bought a new 2015 Precept 35un. The Expedition price with tow package was insane. We traded our TT in, Kept the Expedition.

Talking

Bought my F250 new in 06, thought I'd have to live in it when I got it home. Any time I think about upgrading to a newer truck, STICKER SHOCK! Not to mention death stares from DW. I couldn't even get into a F150 for what I paid for my F250. But I got what I wanted, Xtra cab, long bed, Powerstroke, and just now hitting 75K mi..

24 hours in a day, 24 beers in a case. Coincidence? I think not.

Yeah my next purchase would likely be something like that. My 2500 although 12 yrs old only has 104K so I`m still good for now. As they say, I was "just looking''. P.S. I did change my oil this morning too.

I'm the exact opposite... I would wander around and see the high prices and be so happy with what I already have! I did upgrade to a used Cummins last summer though. I was looking at new gas trucks when I found the used Cummins!

I'm in phoenix today actually saw one on the I10 this morning bright yellow running a dealer tag. Honestly that is one ugly truck and the Cummins was raddling terrible in the 20 MPH morning traffic. had to look twice because I didn't think they were on the road yet ??

I drive by a dealer every day on my day to and from work, and every so often after seeing the rows of the new trucks staring at me, I get "upgrade-itis" and want to get a new truck. Then I look at what I have, it's still in good shape, it's paid for, and it still does what I want it to. That feeling goes away after that.
