On our 377rlbh with a generator and washer/drier our pin weight is a full 25%. I was a little surprised but hopefully the CAT scale was accurate.

Good Luck on finding the right FW for your family. FYI you can see my camper info in the signature and my pin weight is 2090 lb.

I should have also stated my gross on my camper is 10,600 lb. with a pin weight of 2090 lb. and that equates to 19%.

So what did you finally decide or are you still thinking about it?

Currently looking at gently used 1 ton diesels. Our plan is to retire in 10 years and spend a lot more time in the camper travelling around the country. We want to be comfortable in our camper and we also want to be safe towing.

Sounds like a great idea, I love my 1 ton and I even love the DW when I'm towing and live with it the rest of the time. Seriously, I do love the DW's the experience towing is so much more enjoyable, it's solid as a rock in all conditions. I have gotten used to the DW's when not towing and wouldn't want anything else.

Because of the weight of diesel powertrain, dont assume a srw one ton will have you covered for most of your 5th wheel options. Dont forget your actual hitch weight, additional cargo, occupants, and "true pin" weight. Diesels will run out of cargo capacity way before advertised towing capacity.
