mud flaps rock tamers

just installed some rock tamer mud flaps on the truck. we go on a few dirt roads with the trailers and pick up a lot of rocks. drilled the 5th wheel with a rock last year and our new trailer has a painted rock guard on the front instead of the chrome guard as on our last starcraft. the dealer had told us they need to repaint them before they put the new trailers on the lot as the paint has chipped off already.
so I installed the rock tamer flaps to maybe eliminate most of that. easy install and does not look to hideous on the back of the truck.

Awesome, looks good. I use a similar product made by Rock Solid and I believe it has saved my trailer from some rock dings. I have offroad/mud tires on my truck that like to pick up rocks between the lugs and fire them like bullets at highway speed... I nearly always tow with my Rock Solid skirt.

For anyone else that uses this product or something similar - the bolt on style clamp bracket that goes around the hitch shank will move or wander while you're towing. I tack welded the bracket to the shank and the guard bolts onto the bracket when it's needed. Doesn't move an inch and isn't going anywhere.

I was thinking of installing a set of Duraflap mudflaps for a cheaper solution than the hitch mounted flaps. Do the hitch mounted flaps do better? Isn't the heat from the exhaust a concern?
Rock Tamer seems to be a popular choice. Anyone use the Cabela's hitch mount mud flap? (Cheaper and lifetime guarantee).

Can you provide some info on the painted Rock Guard ? My Eagle TT cap is getting repainted under warranty and I'd like to protect the new paint and diamond plate etc. is not an option due to the contours.

Rocktamers do an excellent job of protecting from highway debris in addition to rocks or gravel roads etc.

I got the Rock Star 2xl for Fathers Day. The rubber is 1/2" thick and doesn't sail much. I got the 2xl to try to prevent side splash for most of the debris on our 5th wheel seemed to be directly behind and on the outside of the rear wheels!
