My TV to be totaled

The bad is... my grandson, who is not injured got T Boned over the weekend and totaled sig. tv

The good... I'm looking at a 2011 F150 EcoBoost maxtow 3.73 axle with 6-1/2 ft. box in the morn.

Question is how can I verify that it has the above addons? is there a sticker somewhere?

Glad to hear the grandson is doing fine.

Being used, not sure if it is on a dealer lot or private seller. I would look up Ford's service hotline number (not your local dealer phone number, but Ford's number) and bring it with you. Grab the vin number and call them up and ask Ford directly about the build. They will know and will tell you.

The gearing should be on the sticker on the driver's door frame, along with the tire pressure info.

Towmax, not sure if there is any info on the vehicle about it.

Do not trust anyone about the various tow configurations, I have heard about dealers saying they are all the same setup just with different names. That is not true, so do your homework. Make sure you know what tow configuration you are getting.

If I had to buy a new TV, I would be looking closely at that same setup.

Try this link to decode the VIN (assuming you have access to it), there is another location to retrieve the actual window sticker as well.

http://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin-decoder/

Window Sticker lookup tool

http://www.inventory.ford.com/servic...icker.pdf?vin=[insert VIN here]

replace [insert vin here] with the VIN of the truck

As mentioned, the vin number will tell you every option the truck came with.

The vin is the best info you can get the dealer can look it up and tell you about the vehicle. The drivers door can also tell you how much weight you can tow with that vehicle.. Make sure to check car facts to see if it has been in an accident.

Pay close attention to the yellow payload sticker on the driver's door. Some F150s have a very low payload. My F150 is 1530 pounds and I'm pretty much maxed out towing my 26BH.

That said I went from a 2002 F150 with the 4.6 to a 2012 with the 5 litre and the difference in towing capability is amazing.

Maxtow requires the 3.73 axle. The GVWR will be 7650-7700lbs. Look for the 7650-7700lb GVWR on the door sticker. Payload will be around 1700-1850lbs. Could be slightly higher or lower depending on trim levels abd added optional equipment. Only maxtow have the higher GVWR. For the bed bring a tape measure. My 2010 maxtow didn't have tow mirrors. I don't know if they cam with the maxtow package in 2011.

I always picked the middle gear ratio for best gas mileage and best power consideration.

Your 2011 will be almost just like my 2010 F150. That is one beautiful truck...

I have the SUPER CAB which is great. Lots of room in the back seat area...

http://www.ford.com/resources/ford/g..._F150nov18.pdf

My previous truck was a 2004 5.4 gas F150 Ford scab with 3:73 gears in it. Hugh difference in handling with the same setup in my 2010...

Of course I get great gas mileage just pulling my 4200LB OFF-ROAD POPUP. Having minimum wind resistance makes all the difference for us. My truck's gas mileage is almost the same whether I am pulling my trailer or not...

Go with what everybody else mentioned.
I have a 2011 F150 EcoBoost 8200# GVWR package 3.73 4 wheel, Max tow (11,200 with trailer brake controller)and HD Payload package (2,393# people and box, 5th wheel already 1,850 + 100 hitch in bed). Public scales help to keep inside the limits. The truck pulls great, the 5th wheel is just under 10K loaded.

Not to hijack this thread, but speaking of wives and TVs:

Surprisingly this very afternoon my wife may have approved of a newer TV than I had been considering.

I wanted something I could pay cash for - and then privately sell my current one. But she saw me looking at one that'd require a bank note ($20K) and took an interest in it. Do we need it? NO, but would I like it? Yes!

Maybe I'll sneak off to the bank tomorrow and see if I can receive their blessings.

For the same money you can get an F250 with 7-800lbs more payload. Better all around truck.

Unless you want gas instead of diesel. That 6.2 is a bit disappointing.
