Question need advise

I am looking at a 166fsb....I;m trying to figure out towing capacity for a vehicle. The GVW is 4995. So, what about hitch weight 480? Is that amount included in the 4995? I thinking of a Ford Explorer...5500 capacity Help...

General estimate of tongue weight should be 12% to 15% of the trailer's GVWR for the sake of your calculations.

Towing capacity is just part of the picture. As import or more is the payload capacity of your tow vehicle. A search of threads about determining that will help you calculate it.
Here’s a helpful video:

you have to know what the payload is... it is on the yellow sticker.... then from there start subtracting... the tongue weight will be as stated above 12-15%... \so more than 480lbs... plus your hitch weight...

If the Explorer, what size engine? The 3.0 Ecoboost would be my choice. Max trailer weight for a 2021-2022 Explorer with the 3.0 ECO or 3.3 is 5600lbs. properly equipped. The max weight rating for the RV is 4995lbs. So the RV shouldn't weigh more than that loaded. With 5600lbs., you'll be close. You, spouse, dog, anything you load into the Explorer is part of it's 5600lb weight limit..including the trailer. The trailer is 4035lbs. empty
