Smile New 28.5 rsts Concerned Tow vehicle...

Hey all new to the forum and want to say it has been a wealth of info through the years and much is appreciated. Wife and I have recently purchased our new rig after much research and joined the Jayco Fam. Went with a 28.5RSTS. Coming out of our 8528BHWS which we loved and pulled everywhere.... TV is a 2015 F250 Platinum crew shortbed stroke. My big question is after doing some research about weights my door sticker allowable payload is 1975 and with new trailer pin is 1680 and does not allow for people or much of anything more in the truck. Old rig had a pin of 1600 and was never any problem... Guess I am just curious what everybody else is towing similar rig with and any issues have arised. Really do not want to purchase a new TV but keeping everyone safe is number 1..

Thanks in advance..

We have a 28.5 RSTS and an F250 Gas. We keep running the numbers and feel that we're maxed out. With a (heavier) diesel taking more of our payload, we would definitely be over on the pin weight. Sorry, but that doesn't sound like a good combo.
If we went even one more model up in weight, we would be looking at a dually.

Yes sir that is the next move, Shame being these trailers are rated at a very well rated 1/2 ton vehicle. Love my truck and have done a bunch of work to it but... Safety is priority, New vehicle at least gives me something to do perhaps a diff color. Previous FW pulled wonderful with just 80lbs less pin weight guess I was just lucky.

Are you basing your weights on those advertised by the manufacturer or have you weighed your combo on a CAT scale?

In post #47 of this thread, a member listed their CAT scale pin weight on a 218 28.5RSTS as being 2100 lb.

Have not done any scale weights based just on manufactured listed weights. Now that you say it I have noticed earlier years of the 28.5rsts has a 1425-1480 pin weight.. Don't know what happend between 2020 and 2021 but Manufacture pin changed. I will be scaling it soon as I did my previous Trailers just for my info.
Thanks...
