New tires -- Goodyear Endurance?

I have been treated very well by my local Goodyear shop. They are only a couple miles from my house and even closer to where I store my trailer. So my first thought was I'll pick up new trailer tires from them. They only have their Endurance tire in stock. With discounts, etc it's about $450 for four tires, install, taxes, etc. Which seemed about right.

Then I looked around. Found some name brands for less. Then I looked at some trailer brands, saw the really cheap stuff, and started reevaluating buying the most expensive I've seen. I'm still leaning Endurance, but not leaning enough to schedule and appointment.

Thoughts? We put about 5,000 miles a year over all sorts of terrain.

With the load rating of the tires being very good, the speed rating very good, being American made, and my experience with the tires so far I would reccomend the tires. They are what I will put on when they are worn out.

I think that's a great price! What size are they? Amazon has the Goodyear Endurance for $164.00. I have about 5,500 miles on mine and they look like they've never been on the ground.

That sounds like their Marathon tire. Which my local dealer does not seem to carry.

Mine are ST205-75R15 load rating D for $123 list, $15 mounting/install etc. so $550 or so plus tax. They are running a promo $75 off the set plus another $75 instant rebate if you use their card. I like the instant rebate so I do. I think they also offer 6 months no interest, but I prefer to just pay off the balance right away.

Bought my Carlisle Radial HDs from Walmart about $60 each. So far I've got 17,000km on them and they look new. This will be year 3.

I got mine for $110 apiece about 3 years ago so that price sounds reasonable. Mine still look almost new and I’ve got to have at least 5-6k on them.

When they pull off your cheapies let them have you feel how much difference in weight there is between the two. Endurance are so thick and heavy, very comforting.

I ran my from the factory China bombs for just over 2 years. I put the Endurance tires on for a few reasons. They hadn't been out for very long at that time but the track record was extremely good. They had a little higher load rating than the China bombs. The speed rating was much higher. And the best part for me was MADE IN THE USA. I did keep my China bombs and sold them to help offset the cost of the new ones.

I replaced my Raineers at two years and about 10K with almost no visible wear. I found Endurance one grade up, D vs. C and mounted with new stems. I then sold my used Raineers to a guy who just wanted a boat trailer tire for short trips. Not only offset the cost but no disposal fee!
I like the 87 MPH rating as I sometimes cruise at 70+ when conditions permit as we go 1,000 miles to get to the Rockies to camp near our grand-kids (or with them!!!)

Our 212 QBW came with the Endurance and I wouldn’t replace with anything else. I’ve had great experience with my local America’s (Discount) Tire. They will always match any lower price, even Costco. You might try them if you have one nearby. Or ask your Goodyear dealer to match a lower price. Nothing to lose.

Another vote for Endurance! Bought mine at America's Tire around $100 IIRC. Made a 5000 mile trip to Yellowstone a couple of years ago, probably another 5000 miles since with zero problems. Having a single axle trailer I need the best tires available and Endurance fits the bill. When it's time to replace them I will buy Endurance again.

Makes sense................you can't touch a 16' Endurance for that price, on sale or not...........thanks for the clarification.

Goodyear Endurance tires are the only way to go. Mine are now a year old with 5k miles and still look like new.

Watch for Memorial Day specials from Goodyear and Discount Tire. I bought mine from Discount Tire during a promotion and got a really good deal, plus lifetime balance and road hazard warranty. Also get the metal valve stems installed while your at it.

I have seen postings about multiple blow outs on this forum for almost every brand but the Endurance. Like others have said, “don’t cheap out”. Changing a tire along an interstate is no fun not to mention the damage to your camper. Buy cheaper beer, not tires!

I’ve got all the life (and luck) that I’ll get out of my China bombs. Just waiting for the Memorial Day sales to kick in on the Endurance tires for mine.
