New Tow Rig and a Question

Well we bought a new TV. Love it! 2015 High Country HD.


But my main question is......



The safety chain hooks dont fit the new bumper. Anyone else have this issue and what did you do to fix it?

I had the same issue with my GMC 2500, and my '16 3500, so I went and got something like these:
Everbilt 1/4 in. Zinc-Plated Quick Link-42704 - The Home Depot

Quick links are awesome. I used them to extend my safety chains. There are a lot of 'quick links' available, just get ones that are heavy duty / rated appropriately.

Double check the ratings on those but I would recommend something along those lines. 1/4" would be there for little more than eye candy..

Rolling those look a little light. Sinnister those look better but not sure those will fit. i think i need to find bigger ones the new hitch design is huge lol.

I had the same problem on my F250. Maybe you can zoom in on the picture. They work well and have a high weight rating.

they're a tight fit, I had to "hammer" one in on the pass. side., but once they were in, they do have room to move, its just getting them in the wholes. I left them in for the season once I put them in

Not sure if this will help, but I have that problem with my Dakota, I did not have to buy any quick links or anything. I just have to change my approach angle. I first come in at a 90 to the hole, slip past the steel, then rotate the hook 90 degrees to pass through the hole.

I also struggle with these on my F-250. Yesterday when I got home I could not get one off because my pin has a lock on it for the hitch receiver. So I ended up getting my tin snips out to take it off. Ultimately the latch spring came off. I like the idea of the 'quick links' so thanks for the website and picture from previous posts

I like the shackles if you can find one that fits..

I was two hours from any major city in southern Utah with the trailer and stopped by an Ace Hardware. Told him what I was trying to do. He walked back to his rack and showed me exactly what I was looking for at about $4.00 each. Ace calls it a Clevis slip hook.

I wish there was an Ace Hardware for every Home Depot/Lowes.

These 3/8" hooks from TSC fit our new 2500HD hitch perfectly.

Before I discovered these I wasted my money on shackles, that didn't fit, and a couple other types of links/hooks.

That's what I had come on my Equlizer, the spring loaded clip that secures it on the hitch is what I couldn't get past when I tried to get it off my F-250 receiver.
That is why I needed my tin-snips to get it off, not the hook itself but the flap that keeps it secure. The size of the hook seems very strong

X2 on mine. Once you get the angle right and the routine down they should go on easy

I know with my 2017 2509HD there's no amount of angling any shackles or quick links that will work.

This hitch is very large and the holes are very far apart. I was really surprised that the new hooks I bought actually fit it.

I believe they changed the hitch design for 2017 because I purchased a couple shackles that worked on some other people's previous model years and they are no where near fitting my hitch.

Looking at the OP's pictures it appears that my hitch is a little different.

The class IV hitches on the new GMC's are not very user friendly. ....
