New Tow Vehicle

First hook up of our new 2020 2500HD. Still have to tune the hitch and get running boards on the truck where my DW and myself can get in it. Maiden voyage to Garner State Park in Texas in 3 weeks.

Color matching truck and trailer, nice! I had a white dually towing a white 34' Montana. We bought a 40' Sierra in brown and a month later sold the Montana. My neigh ors didnt know what was going on around here, I mean who has TWO 5th wheels parked at their house. Within a month we sold the Montana and the neighbor asked when we were getting a matching truck. I thought there ain't now way I was getting a new truck just to color match. Well, the white dually started giving me problems and within a month I broomed that truck down the road and had a color matching dually.

Got the hitch tuned this afternoon. Scheduled to have my running boards and bed cover installed tomorrow. Will have to wait until our trip to see how it pulls, but expect it to outperform the Tundra 5.7L we towed with prior. I can already see a difference in breaking. I got lucky on the color match, the only available 2WD gasser in the area just happened to be silver. A very nice side benefit.

New TV Results

As posted earlier, my DW and I recently upgraded to the Chevy 2020 2500 HD with the 6.6L gas engine. We upgraded from a 2018 Tundra with 5.7L and tow package. The new Chevy has the tow package as well with some really neat options.

We just pulled from NE Texas to Gardner State Park in the Texas Hill Country. Results have been pretty good so far. I can just set the cruise control and it handles grades both up and down with ease. Braking is a definite improvement. Just feels like a more stable platform. Gas mileage averaged 9.9 pulling hills down toward Uvalde.

Although the previous Tundra did handle our 2019 WhiteHawk 28RL without much trouble, this truck is a definite improvement. Expect to see big difference when we head to NM in May.
