New Type of Camper

On our longer trips my wife is always complaining about our bikes, generator, etc getting wet so I went out yesterday and bought a truck camper top. I now feel old.

Might want to look into a tailgate protector of some type. I had a cap on my Ranger pickup years ago and the rear window rubbed all the paint off the tailgate where the window seal touches it.

I currently use an Extang solid fold tonneau cover on my truck and remove it when vacationing so the bikes fit. They get wet parked at the campsite anyway so I'm not too concerned about them getting wet in the back of the truck.

I have been suggesting a cover to my wife for those same reasons and she says the same thing...that's so old"! However, with our new fifth wheel I don't know if a cover is an option any longer. Anyone know of a cover for a fifth wheel hitch set-up?

Truck cap

Ha that's funny. A cap was the first thing I purchased for my 2013 f150 and my son still gives me a hard time and calls it an "old man cap". Oh we'll I guess I'm a happy old man, wouldn't go anywhere without it, makes a lot of dry storage space.

Wouldn't have a truck without one! I need to keep my work gear back there a lot, so I need it secure. The whole cab is full of kids. It's nice having the dog out of the weather too (she looked pretty miserable when we took her across the pass before we got the canopy).

I guess I'm old... I've always had a canopy though since my young "surf bum" days. I alway say, never get a car you can't sleep in!

I had a Rhino liner, sprayed in bed protector, done to my truck after I bought it. I had them go 'over the rails' to protect the top of the box and did the same to the tailgate. So the Rhino liner extends down a short distance from the top on the outside of the tailgate protecting it from the rubbing of the topper's rear window.
