Nissan Frontier owners
Any Frontier owners towing TT's on here? I just recently traded my Ram 1500 in for a 19 Pro-4X and will be using it to tow my 19XUD.
The towing capacity is much more than the TT's 3800 weight and even with me+wife two Doogos and gear, I'm still under. Just want to see your thoughts and experiences.
PS, don't ask why the Ram is gone. 🤣

My company runs Rams and Frontiers. I chose a Frontier because of the places I need to take the truck into. Mine is a 2015. It was issued to me in 2015 with only 2 miles on the truck. I now have 130,000 miles on it. It has been absolutely flawless!!
I don't tow a TT with it, but I occasionally tow an enclosed cargo trailer with a snowmobile or Side by Side tracked ATV (company issue). No issues at all with towing.
FWIW: our company's Fleet Manager told me that the Frontiers have been one of the most reliable light duty trucks the company has ever run.
The Rams....not so much...

Good to Hear! I will say I miss the Ram but I don't miss the check engine light coming on every month and throwing another part at it.
When I started reading about the infamous Hemi tick, I said I'm done. My wife wouldn't drive it due to the size and now she will drive the Nissan and I can keep the miles down since I work and shes retired.

The Ticking of the Tell-Tale Hemi. No thank you.
How ironic: my company's Fleet Manager reached out to me this morning and told me that my truck is due to be turned in for a new one; sometime this Spring.
Once again he gave me the choice of a Ram or a Frontier.
"Frontier, please"
Nissan has a new engine/transmission combination in the '21s. Hope it is at least reliable as the previous combination. Other than that, the truck looks unchanged.

Thats to funny you got the call today.
I'm beginning to believe that we are the only ones that have Frontiers in the forum. LOL! I noticed last night that should have posted this thread in the Towing section and would move it if I could.

The Xterra (both 1st and 2nd Generations) tow great. We towed our 4,300lb Hybrid with our 1st generation Xterra (5k tow limit) and it towed very well. With the 170hp, 3.3l v6 it didn't win any races, but paired with the 6,000lb Equal-i-zer towing system, it towed great. I knew it was back there, but it was rock solid. With the almost 100 additional horses and 55 more ft/lbs of torque, your Frontier should tow you 19UXD very well.
Our 19 yo daughter has a 2012 Xterra (2nd gen w/ 4.0l v6). We haven't towed a TT, but have towed other trailers and they towed nicely.

I have always liked the size of the Frontier. It reminds me in size of the former Dodge Dakota.

I towed a 4050 lb loaded TT with an 06 Frontier V6 AT 2wd. Hated it. The Frontier feels strong and peppy until you put 4,000 lbs behind it. On the freeway running 60 mph and mash the gas pedal there's nothing left. Reminds me of my 1st car, a 1960 40 hp VW.
Handling was fine, it's the poor towing mpg's and the small gas tank. Expect 150 miles max before needing gas.
Towing mpg's were in the 8-9 range. I moved up to an F150 after 3-4 tows. Got a constant 10.5 mpg. The 5.4 hardly broke a sweat.
I should say that all my towing was in the PNW with hills and mtns in every direction.

That's what Im gathering from the Frontier forum. We don't plan on going camping any long distances. Most of the fun we have is no further than an hour from Home.
I plan on upgrading to a Class C if we decide to travel.

Short 1 hour trips aren't bad. Sounds like a plan.

I had a first-generation frontier. 1998 model. It was my first four wheel drive. It actually had an Altima 4-cylinder engine in it and a friend of mine who is a Nissan engineer said it was tuned for low-end power in the truck.
I had that truck for about eight years and it was a great truck. It towed our pop-up 10,000 miles and towed a 2 ATV trailer several hundred maybe even a couple thousand miles. I ended up putting a clutch in at 130k miles and sold it because I needed a bigger truck for a hybrid. I sort of miss the truck because it was quite Dependable but it just wasn't big enough. We were adding on to our family and getting bigger campers.

Well its been a while since I've been in here and some major changes have come and gone since then. Since this post, I still have the Frontier, but the Jayco 19XUD was traded in this spring for something a little warmer in the cold season. I found a sweet deal on a 2019 Winnebago Micro Minnie 2106DS. It has the Red Gelcoat sides which require a constant quality waxing or she will turn Pink. "How I got the sweet deal" We miss the little Jayco and its layout, but with three dogs and a lot of fall and spring camping, The hybrid just wasn't me. Hope to see my ole Jayco and new owners show up here one day.

I traded a 2018 GMC 1500 for a 2019 Nissan Frontier Pro4X and I tow a Jay Flight 19BH. Ive towed on highways and backroads for 3 hours at a time and never had an issue. I just take my time and the truck handles it perfectly.
