nose too high?
I hitched up to my new 2500HD and noticed the front of the trailer looks a bit high. I came back home and dropped the hitch to the last hole but I only got an inch of drop. Should the TT ride a little nose high or level?

Both are empty. I'll take another look when we go camping this weekend and see how it's riding when loaded.

Level or nose slightly down, you don't want nose up. Assuming you're loaded up and on level ground in the pic, looks like you're a little nose high, but not by much... Have you measured?

The trailer and truck should be as near level as possible when ready to travel. You may have to purchase a longer shank to acheive this. I don't know what brand hitch you have, but most manufacturers offer different length shanks. I too may have this same problem when I upgrade from my GMC 1500 to my new Ford F-350 next month.

]Here is a pic of the hitch with the TT loaded. I moved the hitch to the lowest setting on the drop bar and the TT rides level but I don't like the angle of the bars. Do these bars run fairly level with the TT frame or are they at an angle like mine? I was thinking about replacing the 2" rise ball (dealer installed) with a 1" rise ball but don't know if that will create a clearance issue with the frame. I used to be able to put the bars on by hand but even with the new TV raised rather high I still need to use the bar tool to get them on.

I noticed your hitch looked kind of high but there was a thread on here a while back where a camper had bought a new trailer and think the ball was the lower type and it pinched the chains so be cautious. Just my two

IMO the Equal-i-zer spring base should run parallel with the TT A-frame, thus the bar will lay flat across the "L" bracket surface. There are different mounting configurations for the link plates and "L" brackets that should allow for height adjustments as you lower the ball mount on the hitch draw bar.

it looks like you have a raised hitch ball. try replacing that with a regular height ball.
I agree with everyone else here, TV should be level and TT should be level or slightly (1/2") nose down.
Now for reality,
I can't get my truck to sit level. it squats 3/4" down in the back when loaded and bars tensioned. I tried tensioning the bars more, but ended up bending the snap up bracket.
Since most trucks are nose down when unloaded anyway, it looks level - and handles fine when hitched up. I had to buy a drop shank to get the TT level. I couldn't be happier with the set up. No bouncing, no sway even with full waste water tanks in the rear.

Agree with others that have posted. The nose of the trailer should be level or slightly down but not up. Also, the weight distribution bars should be as close to parallel to the trailer frame as possible. Getting the nose down should get that accomplished as well.
Looks like the ball needs to come down about 1 inch or so and everything should then line up better.

If I'm not mistaken, when you lower the ball, you're going to lose some tension on the bars. So if your weight distribution is appropriate at the current setup, and you drop the hitch ball down some (to get the bars more level), you'll also want to add a washer to tilt the head a little more rearward to retain that spring bar tension.

X2. That's what we had to do as the shank that came with the hitch was not long enough and did not give us enough drop. I wouldn't change the ball as it looks like it will interfere with your a-frame. The longer shank should resolve your issue.

I would load it up and go camping. Some folks seem to worry a little too much about trying to get everything perfect. If your weight distribution is good, it's close enough to level to pull anywhere you want. Perfection is not a requirement.

The pic I posted yesterday was with the TT and TV loaded (it's also a hyperlink to a bigger pic). It pulls fine but I don't think the bars are supposed to be at than angle for the friction perches to make even contact. The bars are also difficult to put on and remove now...to me, that's a physical indication something isn't right.

I guess if you are worried about it, I would start by putting a regular ball on your hitch, with no rise. Then adjust your hitch and brackets on your a-frame to their proper positions. If you could previously put the bars on by hand, they weren't set up correctly. There should be a fair amount of resistance putting them on if you are actually transferring hitch weight the way they are intended.

Was running a F150 SC 4x4 with equalizer hitch. Now SierraHD CC 4x4. With the hitch, I had to turn the shank upside down, I didn't have enough drop because the GMC reciever sits 3-4 inches higher. Check your install sheets for the WD hitch you're using and reevaluate the setup.

After looking at your picture, something just don't look right, it looks like the ball is tilted forward way to much. The ball is suppose to tilt backwards a little bit.
