Finally got if solved. I removed 2 of the 3 metal plates underneath the rear springs, on each side. This lowered the suspension 7/8". I installed an Andersen Ultimate hitch and put it at it's lowest setting. I turned the Andersen coupler that mounts to the king pin to the rearward position, to get more clearance from the tailgate and bedrails. I also raised the king pin arm assy. up 2". After doing all of this the 5er is almost level and I have the correct clearance above the bedrails. So, my advice is that if you are considering buying a 5er that does not have a lot of pin weight, buy a 3/4 ton model and not a 1 ton model. I believe that if I had a 3/4 ton chassis, the 5er would have squatted just the right amount and I would not have had to do all those extra steps.
