That's a 12 year old truck. The repair is more (or near - not that many of that vintage on auto trader) than the truck's market value. Scrap it and buy a "new to you" truck with the money. Never spend more than the vehicle is worth for repairs.

Wow.. I hear ya. I guess if i was to blow the motor in my truck I would be doing the same thing you are "fix it" A new truck just wouldn't be in my budget. And like you I like my older truck. Good luck with the new engine.

Indeed it has. Last new one was a 04 Chevy 1500 plain jane work truck for 16 grand with all the incentives at that time.

Bought the 04 2500 CC with 70K miles 3 years ago for 14K, less then 1/3 the cost of a similarly equipped new one.
(I did not factor in the exchange rate for Canadian/US dollars in my original post, thought they were close)

Still have both trucks...
