I hope these trucks have finally refined their emission system.

Up to now they are garbage (EPA bastards)

Kevin, nothing wrong with old. New isn't always better. I hate the fact that on my new truck I have to manually shut off traction control every time I drive as well as stability control kicks in once you hit 35mph.I want full control of my trucks not all the computerized BS. You got a Nice clean truck for that year and probably only half of the new emissions BS of the new ones.Good looking Truck

Thank you! I certainly don't miss the high monthly payments, and the RIDICULOUS property taxes every year that come with a new vehicle.. She isn't as powerful as these new trucks but she gets the job done just fine and she is dependable. The best part is I have no emissions crap on this truck. It didn't even come with a catalytic converter! 😉

Those lovely old diesels are getting scarce. I heard one approaching the other day, then smelled it as it went by; never would have thought I'd miss them - but it was nice (for the memories).

Fun Cars

My first post. Very excited to hit the road this weekend with this setup. Drove 400 miles to bring this one home from the dealer (2015 Jayco Jay Flight 23 MB). No sway issues, but didn't go overboard on speed anyway as it was my first towing experience - 60mph the whole way.

TV is a Mercedes GLE 350 4matic with Tow Rating of 7,200, Payload 1080, factory installed tow hitch, Husky Centerline TS WDH. Need to be a bit careful loading but GVWR is 6283 and actual weight (per scales) with full tank of gas and driver was 4980.

You all have some great rigs with much higher capacities. Maybe we will upgrade one day. ;-)

Welcome. I'm stoked for you.

Hey the tow vehicles some of us drive not only match our trailers but also our lifestyles. Don't be in a rush. With that trailer you could get a half ton (1500's or 150) and be just fine but if it doesn't suit your lifestyle and the Mercedes is a good fit you'll be solid.

Get some mirror extenders on there. Don't want any surprises mid turn or lane change.

He's right about the "lifestyle" thing. No way that Mercedes is hauling a couple thousand pounds of deer corn or a full water tote to the back of a hill-country deer lease on roads barely suitable for goats. That's one of the reasons I drive the truck I drive; it not only suits my towing needs, but many other "needs" in my life. That's also one of the reasons we keep 2 vehicles in our family. DW's Acadia is MUCH nicer on long road trips without the trailer. Camping is not all we do (sometimes unfortunately), so we each need different tools for the rest of our daily requirements.

It's nice to see some one else without a pickem up truck on here. Our Durango does fine both for towing and day to day living. Enjoy yourself and maybe we'll cross paths one day.Click image for larger version
