Please level with me

I had posted on the welcome mat this morning and wanted to post one of my questions on this forum to see if anyone has some guidance. I hope I am not messing up by reposting a portion here as I am new to the site.

We are new to Jayco, FW towing and are excited to get started. We have ordered a 2022 Jayco Eagle HT 31MB which is scheduled to be delivered to A&L in Richmond, VA in late June of 2022. In preparation for delivery, I would really appreciate some feedback on a question I have. I have been reading posts on this site for weeks, so I know what I don't know.

I have decided to have the dealer swap the installed pin box for a 16K Goosebox before bringing it home. Read good things concerning the GB and like having my bed easily cleared as it is my daily driver. The FW will have 16" wheels and Goodyear Endurance tires and I will make sure the springs are in the lowest shackle position to gain as much height as possible before I leave the dealer. Tons of post on rail clearance and towing nose high. Does anyone else have a similar set up and will the GB and trailer setup provide a level tow or will I be looking to gain additional trailer height?

3. Any other first timer tips I should know or pitfalls I should avoid before bringing it home?

Looking forward to sharing our travels and trials as they unfold.

No help with your questions. But one more thing to look at. For a while their Jayco voided your frame warranty if you used a Goosebox setup. May want to determine if the 5ver's frame can handle it.

Good Luck

Thanks for the suggestion. I have confirmed Lippert has approved the GB for use on their frames.

Welcome to the family!
IMHO a bumper-pull TT tends to follow the TV path around turns pretty well. A 5th will turn inside the path of the TV. For me it meant clipping the curb quite a few times when making right turns. When I am able I try to crowd left a few feet, turn as late as I can and swing as wide as I can. Left turns are a bit easier but can sometimes have the same problem.

Our Pinnacle is a few inches shorter, about 10 inches taller and a little wider so may not be a good comparison for you. Anyway, we have the 20K Goose Box on ours and it is the best hitch I have ever owned for ride and convenience. Ours is at our dealer getting a leaking hydraulic pump replaced so I can't go look but I think the Box is set at its highest position on the frame box which makes it sit lower at the nose. Because of the height of my truck I still set a little nose high. My only option was to play with the goose ball in the truck. I tried a B&W which I think has about a 2 1/2 rise, a Pullrite with 1 1/2 inch and a Reese with a half inch. The most level and best bed clearance was with the Pullrite.

One word of caution. My Pinnacle came with a frame box that was approved by Lippert, Reese and Jayco for use with the Goose Box. I have read elsewhere that Lippert has started using a box they call the Rhino on their frames which does not have approval for use with the Goose Box. May be something you want to verify before making a decision.

Thank you so much. I'll confirm with Lippert once I can get the frame information off the unit.
