Thumbs up Power Stop Z36 Truck & Tow Caliper and Pad Upgrade!

I just wanted to share with everyone who may be considering upgrading the stopping ability of your rig.

I just upgraded to the PowerStop z36 Brake kit (Slotted/Drilled Rotors & Pads) and I must say, WOW! What a huge improvement over the stock (OEM) equipment.

The truck stops smoother and quicker with these on. I want to think its just the new pads, but my OEM setup never took my truck to a stop like these do.

I use the Tekonsha P3 brake controller and I was using the Boost level 1 or 2 to feel comfortable with the stopping power. With this upgrade I no longer even use the boost feature on the controller and I've dialed down the gain.

I just wish I would of upgraded sooner. If anyone is looking to replace their brake rotors soon, I'd recommend these.

Well... I just wanted to share my experience with the group as I am truly impressed.

Happy Camping!!

That was the very first mod I put on my truck when I bought it.. I have always felt whoa is more important than go. Now if you want to go to the next level add braded stainless brake hoses

I also have the Z36 pads and rotors on my truck - great brakes. In the title of your thread you say "caliper and pad" upgrade... Did you mean rotor and pad upgrade, or did you really do calipers too?

lol.. yeah I did not do the calipers, just the rotors and pads. By the time I realized it I couldn't edit the post. Sorry for the confusion.

I was considering the whole package, but after reading reviews it seems the caliper upgrade wasn't much advantage over the oem.

I upgraded my pads and rotors a couple years ago with Powerstops and my reaction to them was "WOW" as well. They do not produce any brake dust either unlike the OEM's which keeps my wheels looking clean. Definitely would recommend them.

Well, its be a very wet few days here in Southern Ohio. I do have to be mindful when the truck as been sitting (out in the rain) and I brake for the first time pulling out of the driveway or parking lot as they will grab quick. After that initial brake or two the water is cleared and they still work wonderfully.

I really can't say enough about the performance. Even in the rain I have full confidence in stopping my truck quicker with or without the trailer.

this is my second and third sets first set on my 2014 and on our 2010 avalanche.. my only complaint is they are week when you first use them cold... the stopping distance is longer and peddle feel is soft until the pads heat up... but once that is done they are smooth and progressive feeling throughout...

I think when the pads are shot I will replace them with semi-metallic instead for better initial bite when cold...

I can't complain my stock setup got 75k miles out of them before the rotor warped...and those brakes were just as good as these...

I put the third set on a 2005 avalanche that my step daughter still drives and it has over 60k miles on them without issues.....

I added these to my 2012 Silverado even before we bought the camper. Huge improvement!

I'm still very impressed with mine.

I will agree on the cold grip, but if its raining its the opposite right away.

I had a sudden stop on the highway the other day (typical traffic) and had to actually back off the pedal as I braked too hard.

My wife's jeep needs new front rotors and pads, just placed an order for her ride. I didn't get the Z36 for her jeep of course, got the lesser ones.
