Primewell ST500 Tire
Last week a buddy of mine asked me for some advice on his tires on a 8 year old Jayco. I was amazed when looking at his rig. It is a 25' Eagle tt and was ordered with 2 spare tires and the ones on the ground when new. All were Goodyear Marathons and DOT dated the same. Eight years old. All the tires on the ground were badly cracked and the spares looked like they had never been on the ground which he verified.
This rig weigh less than 8000lbs and has a good many miles on the tires. Several long road trips out west etc. and never a tire trouble.
I told him he was on borrowed time and it was time to get new tires before the next trip.
We shopped around locally and ended up with 4 Primewell ST500 tires from our local Firestone dealer. size St225/75R15 in LRD which was a step up from the C's he had.
I have never heard of these tires but the tire manager says those that are buying them are getting good service. Yes they are china made as all are. We compared the weight of an old one vs these and they are noticeable heavier and thicker in both tread and sidewall area.
I will follow up with a report after he uses them.
Yes I know Maxxis would be the choice of many but cost and time were factors for him.
