Question for you F150 owners

Have any of you used the "Pro Trailer Backup Assist" gizmo on your F150? If so, is it worth the effort to set it up or is is something that would be a waste of time? I've survived all these years backing up my trailers on my own, but if it would be something that would be of interest or would possibly help my wife back up, I'll go ahead and set it up when I get a chance.

I have a 2016 F150 and have set it up. What you need to remember that when you turn the dial to the left the trailer goes to the left. As you i have backed up many years so it took me a bit to get use to the dial but i have to admit for going straight back as long as the dial is set straight your trailer will not go out.
I do not use it much.

Thanks. When I was reading the manual this morning, it said that once you enter you measurements, you need to drive it forward on a flat strait surface to get it to calibrate. Do you recall how far of a distance it took for it to calibrate?

It seemed like it was only a mile or two.

I have used it a few times. The thing I like the best it does keep the trailer tracking straight when backing up.

I have it set up for my boat trailer but not my TT. Don't really see a need for it with the TT, but I have it and may use it some time in the future.

So you all are basically saying that it doesn't do as much for a long travel trailer that turns slowly on its own and that is easily seen compared to a much smaller, quicker turning trailer.

I've used ours quite a few times with our 23' JayFlight. I like it especially when dealing with more tight spaces, as others have said the backing straight in part is pretty freakin awesome lol

Where we store our trailer can be a bear to back into depending on obstacles it's worked well for taking some of the guess work out in those scenarios.

Thanks for your replies everyone. I'm definitely going to set it up when I have some free time.

I'll just add that it doesn't replace common sense, of course always have a spotter or 2 and never take your foot completely off the brake when using it. It can take a bit to get used to so try it out in a wide open space or backing into a spot with lots of clearance before trying it in tighter quarters etc.

Well, I got it set up and working on the new truck. I had quite a hard time getting it to recognize the sticker, and actually had to move the sticker at one point. But it is working now.

As you all mentioned above, quite slick in how it backs the trailer up in a strait line. It does loose the sticker if you turn too far to one side or the other for an extended period of time, but picks it up again as soon as you return to a more straight position.

I used it to back my trailer up on an angle to my garage. It worked well, but is a little unnerving just letting it go without my hands on the wheel.
