Thinking out-loud here...., I would think with the newer GM 6-speed transmissions a 3.73 gear would be plenty deep, possibly under some shifting conditions even similar (output ratio) to the old 4-speed/4.10.

I will see if I still have it, but a member over on Articles - GM-Trucks.com - The Ultimate GM Truck and SUV Community - GM-Trucks.com put together a chart comparing the different gear sets. A 6spd/3.42 combo was actually more like a 4spd/4.10 combo from what I remember.

The newer 6 speeds don't need as low of gears but in pulling conditions 3:73's would be nice. However gm did away with 3:73's in there 1/2 tons unless you get one with a 6.0 vortec max or 6.2 max trailering package.Im unsure on gearing as far as the 15+ body styles goes.

The 3/4 tons and 1 tons with the 6.0 had options for 3:73's or 4:10's.
The '14- 1500's with the Max Tow got 3.73's with either the 5.3L or the 6.2L motor. For '15, the Max Tow is a 3.73 with the 5.3L, but the 6.2L gets a set of 3.42's since it has the 8spd trans now.

HD's had the choice until the new '15 model came out, which they have only 4.10's now. The '13 had 3.73 standard, 4.10 as an option. '14 had 4.10 standard, with the 3.73's being optional.

need-a-vacation,

I found an 8-speed vs 6-speed gear ratio comparison chart (below) at the web site you referenced......, but if you find the 4-speed vs 6-speed please post it, would also be of interest.

"Gear ratio comparison for 8 speed with 3.23 vs 6 speed with 3.42.

8 speed / 6 speed

3.23 / 3.42

First: 14.73 / 13.78
Second: 9.59 / 8.07
Third: 6.72 / 5.23
Fourth: 5.46 / 3.93
Fifth: 4.10 / 2.91
Sixth: 3.23 / 2.29
Seventh: 2.75 / N/A
Eighth 2.10 / N/A
Reverse: 12.34 / 10.47"

Source: (enter "gear ratio comparison" in 'Find words' box): Search Form - GM-Trucks.com

I couldn't get a "link" to bring up the actual "chart" source page.

The Tahoe will make it a pleasure to tow the 20e and you are prepared when it is time to upgrade the tv to lets say a 23b

Too technical for me. Will just say that towing a JayFeather 221 with a 2013 Tahoe (has trailering package) is very effective.
